Day 7 - Avalon Day 4

 July 12th - Avalon Day 4 - Rhine Gorge

We left Koblenz 7am - no bridges across the river since ENSCO, ferries only.  WOW, my first glimpse of the Gorge is hills, not flat lands.  Also more activity along the river nestled into the hills.

This morning I decided to have off the menu not the buffet!  Gosh the Belgian Waffle is too pretty to eat - BUT I'm hungry!!!  Afterwards up onto the Sky Deck to take in the castle regalia!

My first castle, never destroyed and still intact - Brabach and still owned by the Prissian King's heirs.

See the stairs taking you up the steep orchard?

Boppard

A red telephone booth out in nowhere.

This is a ginger lemon flavored water only.

Old ruins with newer built beside it.

St Goarshausen

Statue that has a story but forgot to write it down.

Apparently a wronged girl threw herself off the cliffs rather than go to jail, Loreley.

Decorative train tunnel entrances.

Oberwesel

Kaub???

Apparently in 2016 the river was up to the foundation, you couldn't see the rocks.

See the wind turbines on the lower further away hills?

Niederheimbach

Two swans

Trechtingshausen

Kur-haus

Holleberg

OMGG with all this fresh air and su I'm ready for a nap!  Beautiful weather for the Gorge.  DANG it, the garlic smell from the kitchen is driving me CRAZY and lunch is 1.5 hours away yet - GRRRR!!!

So thankful for Linda's lanyard and my new case with the ring holder as this place had me at the rails lots!!!  It's so peaceful up here enjoying the breeze and under the sunshades!  This definitely is a cruising must in future, so relaxing, but then again it's only half full.

Lunchtime!!!  OMGG!  The roasted veal, steamed veggies, bratwurst sausage and pan fried potatoes - TOO delicious & TOO much and I took very little!  Dessert was warm apple strudel with cream and coffee ice cream with Carmel sauce!!!  I honestly do not know what damage these meals!  Ohhh well!  Back to enjoy more views before Rudesheim.
