Catchup - Aug 25th-26th

Aug 25th

Ohhh ohhh ohhh what a lovely day out! And finally a stitching day visit with Sylvia. We're having shaved beef bunwiches, coleslaw and cherries for lunch too! It was too hot on her neck and this works!

Then home to relax time for both of us.  After supper I went over to Edna's for a 2 hour visit with stitching, tea and cookies!  So nice to visit both finally!!!

Aug 26th

What a lovely day to be feeling more and more like myself. Ran a couple close together errands then home to relax. But first I stopped for a short walk and check out the flowers for some much needed "pick me up" feeling!!!

Now feet up and some relaxing and back to hand stitching all the apple core rows together.  Soon the apple core plain border to square it all off then a couple borders to complete it!  😉🤞👌

Catchup - Aug 22nd-23rd

Aug 22nd

Oooohhhhh be still my 💓!!!! See I felt I needed some real food like Santa Lucia Special pizza treat and added in my first drink too in two weeks! Wonder how I'll do during and afterwards! 🤔

It was delicious but three pieces was all I could handle, lots of leftovers.   Maybe have been a bit too soon.  Oh well the rest will freeze well for next week! 🙃

Aug 23rd

Well finally a negative reading after 12 days of positive Covid!  YEAH!!!  I MYSELF did not feel comfortable being amongst the public during that uncertain period and thanks to Pat and Angie for my grocery shopping!  💞

So today I just had to GET OUT,  stopped at A&W drive thru, picked up lunch and drove to Sylvia's for the first time for a shared lunch visit!  But sure tired out fast and back home again.  Will go for a short walk later on too.

Hopefully tomorrow will also be negative and then I'll get out daily for short walks, visits/life/errands and recouping to my usual energy levels.  Slow but sure better than a relapse of this horrible coughing cold spell!

Catchup - Aug 15th-21st

Aug 15th

Ohhhh wish they stayed this small and crazy longer!!!!

WOW!!!! Not nice out there and trees are a swaying!

Aug 17th

WOW!!! Awesome idea!

Aug 19th

Good morning! I was feeling good and sure I'd be negative after testing today! NOT, still a positive reading, but pink not red as first was! 😵‍💫 This damn virus musta sunk in me for good? 😪 This is 7 days from initial test, but sure I had this for 2-3 days on the trip.
Sylvia tested negative a day ago, her first was a faint positive though. So thankfully not as bad and got rid of it sooner?

So sad, she was one reporter I stopped to listen too!

Aug 20th

Awesome idea if you've the means to move I around!

Aug 21st

Well I finally did a desperately needed load of laundry but the 3 times back n forth truly did me in! Dang I thought I was whimpy after standing and doing the dishes but NOT!!! Guess this virus is running it's course with me too and zapping my strength to it's liking. Thank God it didn't take my reduced appetite nor sense of taste and small from me! But that dang Covid line is still pale PINK!!! My system is fighting and it'll be gone this week! So gotta rest to rebuild my strength!

I've been told by a few that it's been 5 days since the test was first positive so you are no longer contagious.  That could be true, but I'm sure when I start coughing when talking,  people will run for the hills!!!

I honestly thought I could get back to routine housework stuff but that showed me how zapped I was!  Not like me at all!!!

Ooohhhhhh I sure miss our Prairie Pathfinders treks out and about! Doubt I could do this with my iffy hip but this was memorable even in the rain and my slipping on the rocks!

A couple pictures from the group posted.

Okay a lazy day after Pat brought my ordered groceries! 💞💞💞

I'm listening to an audio book, catching up on baseball games recorded and hand stitching! I am so glad I've my hobbies to pass time by! See Thursday/Friday I traced Apple Core templates out, gathered my scraps and then slowly cut out the 3 3/4" and naturally matching set of mini sized 1 1/4" finished apple cores. Easy to do while reclining, I planned out the mini cores (will stitch up later for myself) and started stitching the 3 3/4" cores using Linda Franz stitching methods without the pattern printing on fabric. But LOVE the twirled corners for smooth flat pressing.

Catchup

Aug 13th

I've heard from a friend that another member of our group tested positive but I didn't think she was sick too.  Then Sylvia just tested positive but both of us are feeling better and continuing to rest and hopefully next week will be negatives!  We both think that probably the whole bus if tested would have Covid as three quarters were coughing bad.  Also we  hope both Dianne and Henry fully recover.  🙏🙏🙏

Aug 15th

Well I'm kicking this covid coughing cold slowly out of my system! Zinc Immune tea and honey is awesome on my achy throat along with soups and fruits! Thank you Angie and Pat for the care packs! My sleep is getting better too with the odd coughing spell too! Just a few more days I'm guessing! 💞 Then ease back into LIFE!!!!!

Post Churchill

Aug 12th

I definitely enjoyed and persevered more than was on the planned agenda!  Now to rest up and recoup!

This trip I didn't go too overboard with souvenirs and a couple of gifts only. The Artic Trading Post wrapping paper was cut into strips for tourists who asked for it for scrapbooking, awesome idea!

Homeward Bound!

Aug 10th

Pizza was mucho better for me BUT so loaded and BIG pieces that I BARELY ate the allotted two pieces!  Stuffed and tired and ready for bed!  Yeah right!!!  But departure is 7:30 am so guess it will be an early night!

Then 5-7 days at least of self isolation just in case!

Aug 11th

We're on the bus and ready to roll! Will be nice to be home tonight!

Now stopped both ways just outside Thompson because of an accident ahead of us at the Manasan Quarry road! No movement at all. 🤔😒 Hope nothing serious or fatal!

Well after an hour the tow truck and a flattened truck on the flat bed headed to Thompson. Then the ambulance and fire truck followed and after an hour delay traffic started moving. Only saw one vehicle?

Now a truck of wood chips maybe jacknifed not far from Grand Rapids!!!!! But now cleared after a half hr delay for us. This guy pushed or pulled the baby out.

Crossed a raised bridge an what a view we had.

Now a rest stop, hopefully not too long though. I want lunch in Ashern at a decent time!

OK enough is enough already! I'm too cold symptoms miserable for any more delays!

An hour down the road we stopped for construction and an ambulance went by us. Maybe 10 minutes and the pilot vehicle turned and took us threw! Phew!!!!

Okay I'm home and reclining relaxing after a shower too!

Monday evening after the chilly beluga whale watching boat ride I started feeling under the weather again. And Tuesday morning sneezing, fever and coughing, which progressed to horrible seal like barking and definitely sore ribs today! My stomach is unsettled too from the regular and no sugar Halls to help stem the coughing. My ears are aching too from the strain of sneezing and coughing. My eyes burn off and on too. UGH!

I'd say 3/4s of us were chilled or sick on the last day layover at the Legion, 17 hr train ride and 10 hr bus ride home, for us at least. Others were heading to Baldur and Brandon yet. Most are also stiff and sore BUT the adventures were awesome and people so ready to accommodate as best as they could!

Unfortunately we had some worse incidents than colds! Cyn, the organizer, his wife Dianne (she was part of the band) had a stroke on the second day and air vacced with her niece to Winnipeg. She was released the next day for home. Then Henry also in the band collapsed, rushed to the hospital and after tests, covid pneumonia and is still in Churchill but released to a hotel till Friday to fly home. Then Dianne was rushed into Brandon either Sunday or Monday, not sure of her condition. Then on the Prince of Wales Fort tour Ester tripped and fell onto her knees and flat out, so very scarey but didn't break her glasses. Needless to say she stayed in the office till we got back and seems okay but stiff and sore. This was not a good trip for Cyn but that won't deter other trips if results are good! 🙏🙏🙏

Catchup - Mish Mash

Aug 9th - Churchill Last Day

Okay IF I was ever to come back again I'd definitely FLY to and from Winnipeg, no train even from Thompson.  But I did enjoy seeing all enroute, just too rough on my aging body!!!

Sylvia and I went for a short walk, then I continued for a longer shopping picture taking walk myself.

Also Sylvia thought we'd not get much walking in but we sure did!

Aug 3rd Pisew Falls Thompson - 4,609 steps

Aug 4th train n Churchill - 1,252 steps

Aug 5th sight seeing Churchill - 9,571 steps

Aug 6th tour of Churchill - 4,192 steps

Aug 7th tour of dog carting and polar bear Tundra buggy - 6,562 steps

Aug 8th sight seeing Churchill and Beluga whales n Prince of Wales Fort - 10,570 steps (no wonder Sylvia's hips hurt and I was a hop-a-long)

Aug 9th to 3:30pm last minute shopping before boarding the train - 6,248 (2/3s on my own)

I'm TIRED!!!  I pray I sleep on the train.

The Churchill Hotel, our home this past 5 days.

I missed this across the street from the boots.

This was amongst the fireweed growing on the side of the road on one of our trips but I couldn't get it.

Tour company painting.

We're on the train hopefully leaving soon!  AND sleep too!

Awesome!!!

Aug 10th

Hey it's 5am and we're sitting in Gillam train station platform for 15 minutes now and finally some internet service! I wish we'd get going already as a speed of 30 km max this is taking forever and I'm too miserable with a cold to just sit here! Ohhhh well! Maybe our bag breakfast will be soon as supper was a long time ago!

Since no internet service on the train this was posted today!

Okay sunset shots from the cabins and a moon shot from the observation car. Along with some arrival shots at Thompson.

Not sure if a fishing lodge business or private residence, remote access by train only, awesome though.

Ohhhhh I can't wait till I get home to show you my awesomest purchases, so here goes.

LOVE THEM MUCHLY!!!!!  ❤️

The smaller one was from Churchill but I was minutes too late in getting the tote there too.  So we arrived in Thompson today and supper has been changed to pizza delivered to the hotel instead of 4:30 restaurant smorgasbord!  I totally love this tote and envied the ladies who had purchased them in Churchill!

So tomorrow we board the bus for home 7ish and departing 7:30 sharp!  Wonder how many will be on time!  I've two alarms set just in case!!!
