Catchup - Aug 14th-19th

Aug 14th

Thank you Barb for the small stitch n gab session today.   It was lovely to visit in person!  Also thank you to Dianne and you for the purged items for Adeline, Monica and myself.  Very much appreciated!

This was copied from a friend’s post but it sorta sums up the bullying that is happening to mask wearers both physically and emotionally of late =====

Not sure how being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked and called living in fear , but it needs to stop....

When I wear a mask over my NOSE and MOUTH in public and in the stores/Supermarkets/Pharmacies/Offices - I want you to know the following:

ðŸ”ĩ I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still can give you the virus.

ðŸ”ĩ No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.

ðŸ”ĩ I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same.

ðŸ”ĩ If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place.

ðŸ”ĩ Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". Makes me caring and responsible.

ðŸ”ĩ When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member who is allowed at their bedside.....Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little while wearing a mask.

I Copied and posted......Who's going to do the same?

Aug 18th

Well ran some errands and dropped off 14 masks to Tracy (picked up another order for 10 too) before treating myself to iced Chai latte (skim milk) from Fools n Horses and a salmon rice bowl from Poke Mono for lunch and relax at home before a gazebo visit with Eileen and drop off their masks!

Aug 19th

What a lovely lunch with Jeanette and Dianne at Bah Mi King today!  But gosh is it ever scwelchingly HOT out there!  Also thank you Jeanette for ghe fabric/trims donation! Monica's dog has claimed the fleece blanket already and it matches the little sitting room purple decor!  Thank you!!!!  💞💞💞

OOOOHHHHHH look what has finally arrived in my hands after a round about way!!!!!  I'm going to have a nice time this weekend tatting with them.  Thank you Deana for your help with delivery!  Just sorry I couldn't get to London, ON myself to pick them up and visit too!  I'm truly in love with this designer's shuttles!

Also completed the 12 mediums, 10 smalls (new request) and 2 childs (a gift - at least I hope so) and some delivered today too!  Now I'm going to work on scrub caps for my dentist tomorrow and the weekend off from machine sewing to hand applique and tatting!

Catchup - Aug 8th-13th

Aug 8th

Thank you Merle for the Martingale.com link to the Fancy to Frugal book I wanted, $26 Cdn for an ebook compared to the crazy prices on Amazon.ca that's for sure! So now I've my 1930's pattern for my reproduction stash! Another project on my to do list!

Aug 9th

This is a very good example of what can be done WHEN all LISTEN and ABIDE with Covid-19 recommendations and mandates! Invading your rights and privileges etc, I'm sorry, does not matter in a pandemic situation!

If this past week here is any example we're not over this pandemic and with people's disrespect of this virus will not be for a long time especially with lifting of reopening phases!  Get real people!!!!  I too am missing what I love in life but am being careful in social distancing or retreating if there are too many in a specific area!  I'm not playing Russian roulette with Covid-19 and neither should you!!!!  💞💞💞

New Zealand

Here's my newest Covid-19 project!  Dr. T. asked for small, medium and large scrub caps in the style of the sample he provided.   I found a free pattern designed by a Dr. for a reversible cap that was like the sample.  So yesterday and today I adjusted it (medium sized) for small and large and sewed them up.  Hopefully Tuesday I can get them tried on to know if I need to adjust them any.  ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—

Awesome evening but sure cooled off!

Aug 10th

This one's for you all!!!

Aug 11th

Well this morning I finished off 6 medium scrub caps along with one of each adjusted pattern for small and large.  Then dropped them off at my dentist's to have the small and large tried on!  Only need minor changes to the small!  Tony is so happy he increased his order from 18 to 35 pieces! Guess I'll be busy!

Then a quick lunch and brief shopping with Edna before heading home!  There I find two more mask orders, one ASAP.  Glad the rest of the scrub caps aren't a rush!  I figured I deserved a nice supper!  Pan grilled lamb chops with Greek veggies and my birthday wine from Cindy (thank you).  AWESOME!!!!  😋😋😋

Aug 12th

Earlier this year in the cooler months I made mine 3 layers, 2 fabric and inner lining of 400 count sheeting.  But as summer aporoached those were way to warm and more difficult to breathe through.  So I reduced to 2 layers on the advice of a health care worker, outer layer fabric with the inner layer the 400 count sheeting.  Once it starts cooling off I'll return to the 3 layers and offer both.

Mask Testing

It's good to keep reposting as a reminder!

Who ever thought this out nailed it!!!

A Winter Friend

I just don't know about all these blacks and dark greys, this is my third purchase of black fabric! Phew another possible order today! Good thing I have some extras as at this rate they won't last!  So three orders here (with 1 from stash) are complete with two extras too!  Tomorrow and possibly Saturday deliveries.

Aug 13th

Yowsers!  And some have said Manitoba doesn't have Covid!!!!!  Keep gathering in groups wherever without following guidelines and we'll be back in tighter restrictions sooner than later!!!

40 cases

I've had 5 orders of 4 masks each this week and just warned possibly one for 10 next week and maybe another!  SHEESH!  So I've just spent 3 hours cutting out more repeat and new fabrics to rebuild my stash!  Good thing my elastic order arrived today, perfect timing!  Oh and Adele said the last 21 dropped off Wednesday, half were spoken for already!  ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ  Glad I got my friends' summer ones completed before this surge!  I've been very happy to hopefully be part of the precautions in this pandemic, but glad to see masks more readily available all over.

I'm just getting tired of making them, pretty steady since April!  The end for me is getting closer that's for sure!  I need to get back to my quilting, hand applique, tatting, fabric postcards and various other relaxing hobbies and activities!  ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—

Right on!!!!!  Thank you Susan for sharing!

Catchup - Aug 2nd-8th

 Aug 2nd

STUPIDITY!!!!!  DEFINITELY NO BRAINS!!!!!

Aug 3rd

WOW what a lovely evening for a walk with Edna!  This time I chose the Sterling Lyon Parkway, Thundering Bison Trail, from Kenaston Blvd to Waverley Street and back. We passed maybe six walkers and a dozen cyclists, lots better than the other busier trails we've been on and this time no mosquitos!  And this one brought us just about to my 6.5 km goal!!!!

Gotta be true, as they aren't going by elevated cases = closures!!!!

Do any of my quilting friends have this book I can please borrow to make one quilt from inside?  I've checked and it's like $100 plus from Amazon.  🙏🙏🙏

Awesome!!!

Aug 4th

YUMMY!!!!!  Thank you Angela and Michelle (Cathy) for the beet leaves!

OMGG Jim Burdeny you must have a vehicle Doreen could dress up for your driveway with wild flowers or grasses?

I'm definitely making myself one for quick pressing with a mini iron!

In other words for true representation you need to take the globe and flatten it with Vs to lay it out!

Aug 6th

Oooohhhhh I'm very very happy my dentist's checkup went very smoothly and no issues and only a $27 bill after insurance coverage! ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—ðŸĪ—ðŸĪļ‍♀️ðŸĪļ‍♀️ðŸĪļ‍♀️🎉🎉🎉

Then to top it off I was asked to sew up some scrub caps for the staff.  So am going to sew up a SMALL, MEDIUM and LARGE hopefully next week and take it over for checking on sizes (pattern I've found similar to their sample is only the one size - medium looks like).  No I'm not going into these, just for my dentist!!!!!  😉

Yeah!!!!!  Well I finished off some medium plains for Adele's  shop and also an order too. Maybe if things work out I may drop them off tomorrow!

Aug 7th

My niece received her package of masks, she picked this fabric and I'm sure it'll camo lovely with her outfits!

April's choice

My choice

Here's a purging/recycling request for those in Winnipeg!  My friend Monica at Aunt Monica's Attic, Regent Ave East, has a request for the following for dog beds or kids crafts:

1. Comforters, quilts, blankets and pillows (stains OK, will be washed)

2. Fancy, cottons or upholstery fabrics and trims, small or big, for bags and kids or dolls costumes

3. Decorative socks, either singles or pairs, for upcoming crafts projects

4. Beads, sequins or laces/trims of all sizes and types for bags, costumes or crafts

So you can contact Monica directly or PM me and I'll arrange pick up and drop off at the store along with my periodically purged items.

Now this is awesome for an extra cupboard, pull out but yet closed for safety too!  I think this is great to hang rulers etc under the cutting or pressing station!  Thank you Jenniffer Howling of Quilting Space for sharing!

Totally enjoyed a lovely supper with Pat at Joey's on Kenaston with happy hour priced drink!  Supper Terriyaki rice bowl for me and Curry noodle bowl for Pat - both yummy!!!

Aug 8th

Aaaahhhhhh this came up from a Memories of 4 Years Ago.  I miss you Katsu sweetie!

Thank you Merle for the Martingale.com link to the Fancy to Frugal book I wanted, $26 for an ebook compared he crazy prices on Amazon.ca that's for sure!  So now I've my 1930's pattern for my reproduction stash!  Another project on my to do list!

Pat asked for a couple masks yesterday, so I finished off some I had cut out and now she's a good selection to choose from!  AND unless things go crazy, I've a nice stash of prepared masks for future requests.  Once I complete the scrub caps, I'll get back to a few more masks off and on, that way no added pressure!  At least I hope so!

Relaxing - August 1st-2nd

August 1st

YOWSERS!!!!!  I thought it was cooler so would be nice to walk the Boardwalk at Wpg Beach with Edna!  Yeah right the breeze blowing off the lake across the beach covered with wall to wall people would definitely not be safe!

There were the odd picnickers who wore masks, otherwise not!  So picked up ice cream and walked the desserted park and around town back to the car!  We'll stop in to visit Jacqui shortly before heading home!

Thank you Jacqui for the lovely visit!  Next time we'll come straight here for a lovely walk through your park with you!  😉

August 2nd

I've gotten to this time in my life and I just realized I still have so many unanswered questions!

I never found out who let the dogs out?... the way to get to Sesame Street?... why Dora doesn't just use Google Maps?... why we don't ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery?"... why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?... why "abbreviated" is such a long word?... why lemon juice is made with artificial flavor yet dish-washing liquid is made with real lemons?... why they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?... why do you have to "put your two cents in" but it's only a "penny for your thoughts?" where's that extra penny going to?... why do The Alphabet Song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?... why did you just try to sing those two previous songs?... and just what is Victoria's Secret? ...why do we drive on a parkway and park in a drive way? ...and do you really think I wrote this? ... I actually stole this from a friend who stole it from a friend... Now it is your turn to steal it from me... lol Enjoy the rest of your day!
P.S~ copy and paste and don't forget to change the age!  Haha I needed a laugh today!  😂😂

Who knew, hope someone I lnow tries this and let's me know!  Might be worth a thrift store pot to try for my outdoor visits!

Well I've been saving separately the selvedges from mask making fabrics as I wanted to make myself a mask!   I did so today but the casing area is too thick for my liking or for drying!  So unless I figure something else out there won't be any for sale.  😉

Also since I've been asked to sew up matching bridal party masks I was thinking of how to change the wire ribbon channel so they don't detract from pictures.  Edna suggested putting it on the inside, so I did so and it still worked for me!  So might do this in future masks, resolving colour matching in future.

Pugs - July 29th-31st

July 29th

OOOHHHHH I'm in seventh heaven as Taunya is on a work jaunt a couple days and I've the pups finally, Covid be !@#$%&!  She'll let me know when returning and I'll vamoose so no contact just in case!

Yes Dahli's climbing out her pen so extra careful coming in so pipsqueak doesn't sneak out!  Bubba's a great teacher and Dahli is a follower for sure!  Hope there's no escape places in the fence anywhere.  And I saw her sign for #2 and off she went, with a treat and Good Girl afterwards!  I can't wait for this visit's adventures, but please all good ones!  I've already learnt she's underfoot LOTS!!!!!

Hide and seek?

Pals!

July 30th

Okay glad this is a big chair as both have decided to join me!  Ohhh that was a short visit!

One eyed Pugs!

Aaaaaahhhhhhhh, afternoon nap together!

Oh oh here comes double trouble!!!

Then gone!

Now evening relaxing together!

ALL people should read this!  Statistics are numbers and should stay regional not specific!

OMGG are these guys gonna sleep tonight? They are still out, just changed positions. Soon I'm gonna get them up as my butt and legs are getting numb!  ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ

Janice, I'm not sure this last month but it's been a lot.  My masks sell for $7 each and mask buddies $2 each - minimal recouping costs.  ðŸĪ”

Well the puppies let me sleep, I woke them at 5:30 when I got up so out they went and back to bed till 8.  Not bad first night!

Now I just had to share!

OMGG I wondered how long before this improvised MLB shortened season was going to see increased Covid-19 cases emerging! The real games have just started and now games are cancelled or postponed!  Wonder if the other sports leagues will be following close behind?  Totally crazy to endanger players, staff and extended staff, never mind their families for the love of sports!  This is non-essential and not necessary!  Yes I miss my current sports games but lives matter more than my love of sports!!!!

She's under house arrest as she won't leave Bubba alone plus she's constantly running to the corner and digging along with Bubba's help even though I overturned the firepit over that first dug area.  I see she's an instigator, a major puppy pest like Bubba was at first with Fred!  ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ  I really think she needs an anchored wire mesh top on this till she is potty trained more at least.  Lots of room for resting, playing and potty room too!

Both had dirt flying but stopped as I neared.

She wasn't happy at first but settled down!

Figured out  way to keep her in, finally an hour's respite!   She relaxed too!

Finally both have settled for evening nap??? I'm watching baseball but not Jays because of their postponement because of Covid outbreak!  SHEESH, not sure where anyones' brains are in letting any sports to be played AT ALL!  Endangering all players, all staff and their families!  STUPIDITY!!!

Sounds about right!  I think chunk for me!

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!  Gosh they snore!!!

July 31st

OOOHHHH BOY, they are full of mischief today! It's a dig in the dirt under the bedroom, play tag till hot and tired then race for the pool to cool off kind of fun today!  Not sure why but then they repeat again after getting wet!!!!  I've used the fly swatter threat on Dahli, as Bubba knows to change direction when it's picked, to detract them from the dirt, not sure it'll sink in!  Guess I'll be cleaning up muddy wet paw prints now, not just wet ones!  KIDS!!!!!

So cute!

He jumps down, faster than walking around!!!

Straight for the dirt!!!

She follows and even sits in it!!!

Then it's let's play catch time!

Back to cool off!

Splash to clean off too!!!

Wonder how long this will last?

Finally they stopped the chasing and resting for the next phase!!!

Thank you Merle Rawson for your post!  As you can see I too played with it for Canada! Original posted 4 or 5 days ago by Sandy Gray, Thanks to her friend Sandra Dibbs for this gem.
