Catchup - Aug 26th - Sept 18th

Sept 1st

This kinda is my story some days!  Gotta keep moving!!!

Thank you Margreet for posting this!!! 🥰

I totally agree AND everyone's tastes are not the same, thank goodness. So I do as I like and sometimes ask for someone's preference of my choices if undecided, not new ideas. 😘

Sept 3rd

It's been a long time I participated in a Fringe Tatters swap and with back/sciatic issues acting up again I just about didn't make it. So today my Autumn maple leaf bookmark with Split Rings (failed on the SCRM start - switched to rings on a chain) is in the mail on it's way to Australia. The pattern is by Debbie Arnold found on Etsy, but my own tail design. I used Lizbeth, #136 Autumn Spice, size 20. Hope the delivery is faster than my tardiness in tatting it?

Sept 4th

Today I picked Sylvia up and the flowers on her walkway are beautiful. Today I joined the St Vital quilting group that Sylvia has attended over the summer months. She finally finished off her UFO from 2009 and I added borders to my chevron wall hanging and the HSTs NICU coverlet today. The coverlet needs HSTs in a zig zag effect before repeating those borders again. This group is basically a work on your own projects amongst friends, so hopefully I'll start finishing some of my mega years of UFOs?

Sept 11th

I barely got up early enough to have breakfast, get ready and haul my sewing stuff out the door by 9:20 am. First off was an iced coffee for me, then picked up Sylvia (power failure since around 1am - surprised she was ready to go) before heading over to Meadowood for a day of quilting! Sylvia worked on various UFOs, 3 or 4 table runners quilted ready for binding. Me, I sewed up my previously cut pieces for male placemats for Meals on Wheels! After the first sewed up, I changed things a bit and like the 12x16" plans much better, not sure about the red side borders.

UPDATE: I removed the top n bottom black borders and changed to red! Yes much better!!! Ohhhhh and I sewed up 5 placemat tops tonight.

Sept 12th

Quilting, especially with family n friends seems to be my happy place lately!!!

This morning was tough but I shook it off to enjoy lunch with Norma, celebrating her one year anniversary on moving back to Winnipeg (actually the 14th) at the Lemon Tree Cafe. Lovely appetizers we shared but too full for a heavy dessert, will be back another day for tea and dessert. Norma had the lemon tea and I had the Chai latte iced and both were awesome!

Then a couple errands before home for a short nap, I was zonked. Then I cut out a couple pieced backs for the 5 placemats from the other day plus three more fronts and backs for more ACQ placemats. I was trying to make a dent in my large bag of Canada fabrics but not so!!!!! But some are reduced to pieces, might just move them to the scraps bin!

Sept 13th

Ohhhh for sure Autumn is on the way!!! Hopefully a couple weeks to enjoy the turning colours and cooler weather before Winter descends on us!

WTH!!! I left the Crew about 8:30ish near Birds Hill East Gate and soon was in the middle of weekday rush hour traffic turning onto Garven Road, maybe from Pineridge Hollow. Then as nearing Prineridge Golf Course again inundated with more traffic merging from that road onto Garven, and I say not safely. It was bumper to bumper into the city with at least three cop cars with vehicles pulled over. SHEESH!!! Then Archibald n Provencher there's another cop car, huge truck n trailer with a badly smashed front end on a fair sized car. CRAZY NIGHT OUT I'm saying!!! Home safe and sound and no speeding!!!

Sept 18th

What a slow achy start today but it continued to improve to an oakie dokie day topped off with a hot fudge sundae! A nice quilty day working on my Meals on Wheels placemats and showing Janet N my wall hanging from her donated triangles. A lunch visit with Dianne U before returning to my sewing. Today Sylvia was busy and I had others help me with setup and take down. On the way home I was WOW'd by the colours along the Red River so detoured to BDI for some pictures, but the sun hid behind clouds so not as initially dramatic!

Sept 21st

So AWESOME hockey is back!!!

GO JETS GO!!!

Congratulations Blue Jays on the first step!!!

Now Good Luck towards the Championship!!!

Catchup - April 15th-20th

April 15th

Yeah!!! A sewing day with the girls at Sylvia's! Two with machines and two handwork!

I call these 1" hexies but someone says half inch.  All I know is they are piddly!

Edna is hand quilting!

YOWSERS!!!!!

Sylvia working on a table runner order.

Pat making placemats from dancing Inuit fabric bought in Alaska.

Here's a few more pics from today. Sylvia just about finished two table runners today but us three didn't finish our projects!

My plan, if it works!

Ready for stitching together.

I can barely hold these hexies together!

I love Pat's placemats!  I can't wait to see the left over pieces sewn together for an extra one for Sylvia!

Then off to Poké Mono for supper. YUMMY!!! I'm stuffed and tired plus a little sore, so relaxing feet up!

April 16th

Ohhh BOY!!! Wonder when I'll achieve a 3km walk in the future never mind these so wonderful longer walks we used to do!!!!!

At least I'm getting out and enjoyed a 1.5km walk, after picking up Edna and strolled amongst the geese on the Sturgeon Creek Pathway.

April 16th, at half the pace of the above memory!

April 17th

Nifty for my "chicken crazy" family and friends!!!!!

How true! But they probably have a few replacements!!!

My rental rant!!!!

Obviously other tenants don't use rinse agents in the apartmeent's washing machine!!! I time my cycles and after 55 minutes Quick Wash cycle, I'm ready to switch to the dryer of everyday tees, pjs etc are sopping wet, rinse agent still in holder, so cycle stopped on wash somewhere. So switched from Quick Wash to Normal and after the 1.25 hours cycle it was finished properly. The bulky cycle with jeans worked also. The last Normal cycle of dress tees did not work so took a chair into the laundry room and reset again on Delicate and yes it went through all cycles. But by this time (3 washes took 5.5 hours) it was 10:30 (no laundry use after 9pm) so took items and hung them up in my apartment. I'm not happy.

I've reported this twice since Christmas and was told it was fixed! Well obviously not!!! Guess my other washes worked in between as I always arrived as the final spin cycle was ending and machine shut off, unlocking!

April 19th

Today was a so-so morning so I picked up Edna for a Sturgeon Creek Pathway walk. I love this trail as it has lots of benches close together allowing for a comfortable walk for me with 5 stops and we went further too. The periodic buildup of pain in the hip was not as severe and released with rest stops. We saw this animal in the Creek, muskrat or beaver, couldn't see its tail or teeth. Lots of chewed trees along here with pussy willows bursting out too. Then this pair of Canada Geese who stayed put on the Pathway, so I carefully moved over giving them space.

Afterwards we went to Wendy's for their yummy and fast Taco Salad lunch, Edna was impressed and took some of her's home for supper!

When dropping Edna off I gave her the diamond quilt backing that I pieced together, matching the diamonds too!

GO JETS GO!!!!! ✈️✈️✈️

I got my new whiteout tee on too!

Damn I was too late to catch the beginning of the Jets fly over from my windows! Heard the ROARRRRR!!!!

Dang it's hard to watch with fans in white too!!!

Catchup - Apri 15th-21st

April 15th

And look at the lovely pieces we unearthed yesterday that Pat convinced me to add to my collection here. The black glove I used to make and sell and this lovely R bookmark that I think I received as a gift but no info with it. BUT still no shoe box of jelly rolls!!!!

After a few errands and lunch with Sylvia, I kept her company while I washed/dried the four Aurora and my MPQ ABC NICU quilts ready for Thursday's drop off if I get the labels done!
Then once home I went through the two huge bins full of scraps of fancy fabrics. So those with vibrant or colourful or textured went into a plastic grocery bag for Alzheimer's quilts, a small box for Monica and another bag maybe for MCC fancy doll clothes sewing, if they still do that, will have to phone first. In the end I had a half grocery bag for the garbage of small bits, discolored pieces and 3/4s full of lining pieces. So that's done and those bins will be used to combine the batiks and my kids I Spy fabrics into one bin each later on, right now in two plus each!
I'm getting there sooner than the previous purging! Hopefully I keep going and then a fairly usable room for quilting!

April 16th

This is from Monica, of Aunt Monica's Attic in Transcona, photos by Monica too,
"Rose Anne delighted me today with a pile of her “garbage”. Everytime she tosses something my way, I get inspired.
Right now, it’s all about zip pouches (or coin purses as usual old folks call them)."

April 17th

Well the four Aurora child's and lap quilts I found, that needed bindings, while sorting out my crafting supplies are finally complete. Yesterday I printed off the combined labels and today I bonded/stitched them on and will be dropped off tonight at MPQ for the ABC program. Now to find if there are any more and what stages they were dropped off to me in.

First, second and fourth are Aurora quilts.

The second is Aurora quilt.

OMGG I just love this! Wonder if this could be a yard addition within the fence for all to enjoy??? What do you think Angie, it doesn't have to be so ornate?

April 18th

I entered my latest NICU quilt into MPQ's "At Least I Tried" President's Challenge and the reveal was tonight. Basically I'm trying to use up my scraps and stash as much as I can. In this case the cut off triangles from previous projects to make the Stella Block which I reduced in size according to the HSTs sewn up, along with my stash. I thought I had LOTS of the gold stripe triangles to use BUT not so! Halfway through I ran out and anxiously searched my stash (no buying fabrics for this NICU coverlet) and found a plain gold. Also not enough of the red dots, plain gold or green from the blocks for borders too, so I had to search my stash again for some coordinating border fabrics. In the end I LOVE the result, but basically learnt I have to calculate amounts I need and measure my stash fabrics for my projects in the future!!! Sadly it was not in the ABC lineup of donations, second time for me.

April 19th

Well if anyone was anywhere as excited as I was that Pizza Hotline on Boadway and Hargrave was opening a dine-in again, I sure missed Cafe 22!
Too bad they spent money to upgrade dine-in when really it's none existent. No table service but lots of charging outlets, so at the counter I ordered for dine-in. Got shouted for pickup, boxed pizza and can pop, that's ALL! I asked for a straw or glass and serviettes, told got none but gave me serviettes. So sat down to eat etc, but had to leave as it was way too cold plus definitely not dine-in atmosphere. They sure messed up Cafe 22 totally. I won't be coming back for dine-in and probably not much for pickup either. That's prime restaurant location for this area, but not like this!

April 20th

Nice to visit with Pat, Jeanette and Ricky today at the Aurora gathering. I finished off another MPQ ABC NICU quilt top from donated blocks, adding three of my blocks and borders. Next to quilt these last two I've finished. Might take a break and work on one of my own UFOs next.
Also thank you Pat for your cut-offs again, now resting feet up watching Blue Jays and "rippit" from cut offs!

Well someone in a group mentioned a book Android App and I found/downloaded it. So simple to upload by scanning the ISSB No or by typing it in (this I found easier) as some did not come up. Then pertinent information fills in without typing it in. Also some did not have a photo but allowed me to take a picture of the cover. I also added sub categories to the main Quilting category: Patchwork, applique, Hawaiian, scrappy etc. I've only started but hopefully this will help me from buying duplicates and knowing Pronto if someone ask to borrow my book. Also can be exported into Excel if wanted.

April 21st

GO JETS GO!!!!
I'm ready for a great game!!!

Well again back to doing more spot crafty purging and some sharing of my sewing notion themed fabrics. Then a lovely walk with Sylvia before dropping off some of the crafty stuff to Angela for delivery to the Teulon Library for their varied crafts program/activities.

Yep definitely true!!!

Hmmmm for some reason my recording channel did not catch the Jets, differentchannel DUH!!! I missed half of the first period! Will have to see if it's on late night and record to see.
But I pulled out the overflowing hinged bin of my sewing themed fabrics, sorted out ones I don't care for anymore, cut and shared larger pieces and organized the rest by size. The purged ones are going to MCC for their crafts projects and NOW all fit into my bin with room to spare! YEAH!!!
