Catchup - Apri 15th-21st

April 15th

And look at the lovely pieces we unearthed yesterday that Pat convinced me to add to my collection here. The black glove I used to make and sell and this lovely R bookmark that I think I received as a gift but no info with it. BUT still no shoe box of jelly rolls!!!!

After a few errands and lunch with Sylvia, I kept her company while I washed/dried the four Aurora and my MPQ ABC NICU quilts ready for Thursday's drop off if I get the labels done!
Then once home I went through the two huge bins full of scraps of fancy fabrics. So those with vibrant or colourful or textured went into a plastic grocery bag for Alzheimer's quilts, a small box for Monica and another bag maybe for MCC fancy doll clothes sewing, if they still do that, will have to phone first. In the end I had a half grocery bag for the garbage of small bits, discolored pieces and 3/4s full of lining pieces. So that's done and those bins will be used to combine the batiks and my kids I Spy fabrics into one bin each later on, right now in two plus each!
I'm getting there sooner than the previous purging! Hopefully I keep going and then a fairly usable room for quilting!

This is from Monica, of Aunt Monica's Attic in Transcona, photos by Monica too,
"Rose Anne delighted me today with a pile of her “garbage”. Everytime she tosses something my way, I get inspired.
Right now, it’s all about zip pouches (or coin purses as usual old folks call them)."

April 17th

Well the four Aurora child's and lap quilts I found, that needed bindings, while sorting out my crafting supplies are finally complete. Yesterday I printed off the combined labels and today I bonded/stitched them on and will be dropped off tonight at MPQ for the ABC program. Now to find if there are any more and what stages they were dropped off to me in.

First, second and fourth are Aurora quilts.

The second is Aurora quilt.

OMGG I just love this! Wonder if this could be a yard addition within the fence for all to enjoy??? What do you think Angie, it doesn't have to be so ornate?

April 18th

I entered my latest NICU quilt into MPQ's "At Least I Tried" President's Challenge and the reveal was tonight. Basically I'm trying to use up my scraps and stash as much as I can. In this case the cut off triangles from previous projects to make the Stella Block which I reduced in size according to the HSTs sewn up, along with my stash. I thought I had LOTS of the gold stripe triangles to use BUT not so! Halfway through I ran out and anxiously searched my stash (no buying fabrics for this NICU coverlet) and found a plain gold. Also not enough of the red dots, plain gold or green from the blocks for borders too, so I had to search my stash again for some coordinating border fabrics. In the end I LOVE the result, but basically learnt I have to calculate amounts I need and measure my stash fabrics for my projects in the future!!! Sadly it was not in the ABC lineup of donations, second time for me.

April 19th

Well if anyone was anywhere as excited as I was that Pizza Hotline on Boadway and Hargrave was opening a dine-in again, I sure missed Cafe 22!
Too bad they spent money to upgrade dine-in when really it's none existent. No table service but lots of charging outlets, so at the counter I ordered for dine-in. Got shouted for pickup, boxed pizza and can pop, that's ALL! I asked for a straw or glass and serviettes, told got none but gave me serviettes. So sat down to eat etc, but had to leave as it was way too cold plus definitely not dine-in atmosphere. They sure messed up Cafe 22 totally. I won't be coming back for dine-in and probably not much for pickup either. That's prime restaurant location for this area, but not like this!

April 20th

Nice to visit with Pat, Jeanette and Ricky today at the Aurora gathering. I finished off another MPQ ABC NICU quilt top from donated blocks, adding three of my blocks and borders. Next to quilt these last two I've finished. Might take a break and work on one of my own UFOs next.
Also thank you Pat for your cut-offs again, now resting feet up watching Blue Jays and "rippit" from cut offs!

Well someone in a group mentioned a book Android App and I found/downloaded it. So simple to upload by scanning the ISSB No or by typing it in (this I found easier) as some did not come up. Then pertinent information fills in without typing it in. Also some did not have a photo but allowed me to take a picture of the cover. I also added sub categories to the main Quilting category: Patchwork, applique, Hawaiian, scrappy etc. I've only started but hopefully this will help me from buying duplicates and knowing Pronto if someone ask to borrow my book. Also can be exported into Excel if wanted.

April 21st

GO JETS GO!!!!
I'm ready for a great game!!!

Well again back to doing more spot crafty purging and some sharing of my sewing notion themed fabrics. Then a lovely walk with Sylvia before dropping off some of the crafty stuff to Angela for delivery to the Teulon Library for their varied crafts program/activities.

Yep definitely true!!!

Hmmmm for some reason my recording channel did not catch the Jets, differentchannel DUH!!! I missed half of the first period! Will have to see if it's on late night and record to see.
But I pulled out the overflowing hinged bin of my sewing themed fabrics, sorted out ones I don't care for anymore, cut and shared larger pieces and organized the rest by size. The purged ones are going to MCC for their crafts projects and NOW all fit into my bin with room to spare! YEAH!!!

Purging Has Started Again!!!

Yep excited, pooped and enthused to do more too!!!

Okay I just spent maybe 3 hours in the sewing room and I'm pooped, feet up now! The area rug is down, stuff cleared off the sewing table so I could move it and the small drawer tower into place. There was a box marked "sewing misc", so opened it and found one of my thergonomic craft gloves, a few useful items, lots garbaged and some recycled. WOW!!!

Then saw the large 3-drawer plastic chest, usually behind this box plus others, full of scraps and half the bottom drawer had Christmas in there. I decided to put my plastic shoe boxes of large spool threads into there, off the floor. So left the Christmas fabrics there for now, kept maybe a shoe box of good fabric pieces for scrappy quilts and added another grocery bag to the three scrap request ones gathered. Now to call the ladies that requested scraps and get these out soon! 😉

Enough for today, unless to put my machine in place hooked up ready to quilt my Indigenous quilt for MPQ and tackle the threads!

Catchup - April 16th-18th

April 16th

Awesome!  But sorry it's only a Facebook video link.

The Last 2 of Newfoundland and Labrador

April 17th

Well I arrived 3:15 and am outside 4:15 after my Covid shot. All is good! Now enjoying a raspberry lemon cheesecake ice cream! No black chery or burgundy here!

SHEESH it's crazy here! Eating my ice cream social distancing and then getting outta here! Few with masks! Crazy!

I changed my Facebook photo, but DANG I wish the map was of CANADA!

April 18th

Thank you to Angela/Bruce for those nails, they were perfect for hanging! These are in my tiny hallway between bedrooms (pocket door closed to living room) and the bathroom door has my table runner on it!

Slowly I'll get more smaller ones hung on my fabric storage cabinet doors too with upside down contact hooks with fishing line - like these kitchen cabinet ones are!  Slowly I'm cleaning/purging and organizing these days! I must be sick or Covid crazy!!!!

OMGG I thought I'd NEVER finish trimming my scraps (for this Scrap Sisters Challenge) from the 350 cut 2" HSTs (many pieced to make the original 2.5" squares). These were sewn into 25 HST blocks then the 14 individual strips cut from the centre before sewing the HSTs into seven sets of four larger HST blocks.

This picture is not my plan for these parts, just for picture presentation. I'm too tired tonight to start planning the top. I don't even know if I've enough for my idea! Oh well will do whatever, fitting in some of my leftover 1.5 metre gold stripe fabric along with the few 2" HSTs and slightly more 2.5" squares left over and my sashing!!! Not sure if I'll make the deadline but will try!

This is 1"high too!

Relaxing now watching curling!

Back to Sewing!

Yeah it does feel awesomes seeing the floor and decorating possibilities, but I need those two deep sliding shelves to keep it off the floor!

And somehow I've a bruised middle toe(?) and when adjusting my chair a stinging swollen bruising cut on lower arm!

Dang housecleaning is dangerous for me! Never mind all the body aches! Not long ago doing dishes cut myself with a knife that took ages to stop bleeding! YEP I HATE housework!

Took them 5 minutes and out to the next suite. I asked when new windows would maybe be installed and was told 6 weeks! So not moving anything major back. Going to clear out my cube unit, magazines on bottom and organize other cubes, ready for finishing!

Also the caretaker is taking my old bedroom suite for whenever I get my tall dresser. YEAH!!! I don't need to call for pickup! Next is my accent living room chair to be replaced and one day a loveseat!

Now to move and set up my sewing station and get to quilting my shop hop hanger! 🙃

Ohhhhh pisses me off royally! Again the damn bike routes are cleaned down to the pavement but sidewalks and roads are covered and ruts! Sorry bikers, but that is TOTAL DISCRIMINATION!!!!

These past few days were just too much for me. But I at least set up my sewing area, spray n pin basted my shop hop wall hanging. I did a test sample and found a bit of the red came through to the back, adjusted my tension, tried again and good to go! See I'm going to quilt the top with white, red and back but using grey in the bobbin, all the same type of threads though! Enough today, tomorrow it is! Relaxing, feet up and enjoying a glass of chardonnay!

Cleaning - Purging

PHEWIE!!!! What a day considering I was not WANTING to do anything! Started sorting and cleaning up ghe living room, ran some errands, back to finally packing up my Christmas and Snowman collection (looks so bare without my friends), gathered all pocket books to drop off at Angela's, some computer stuff Tom might use and a wagon full off to the Goodwill too! And dishes plus organizing my plastic lids too! Finally 11 pm I'm sitting feet up watching curling!

Tomorrow is work on clearing a way to the window area of my sewing room, hair cut, above drop offs and back home to finish off in the sewing room! Then if time I'll start and hope Thursday finish off the quilting of my shop hop hanger for that evening's show n tell! 🙏🙏🙏 That is if I'm not a gonner by then! 😉

And dang those window measurers for new windows this summer better show up Tuesday!!!!!

Reorganizing - Feb 4th

Feb 3rd

I gotta try this on mine!

Go for it!!!!

Winnipeg Man Snowmobiling

Feb 4th

Well yesterday I didn't do much but today I tackled more taking breaks too! So where the brown desk was the freezer now sits. The glass desk is temporarily mid wall untill I cleared off ornaments and moved the far corner bakers rack into the dining room. Then moved the blockage of boxes (some I've emptied, others soon) and moved the desk into the far corner. It's still disorganized but I'm amazed how much floor space has opened up. I'm too tired to tackle anything more. But I've a wagon full to go to the thrift store, lots to garbage and recycle depot. One day I'll maybe be open to visitors IF this covid takes a hike!
