Catchup - April 27th-30th

I don't know if it's the weather or the sitting around doing my bookwork and no walking or sewing, which is up and down, but I'm aching!

Today I took Sylvia to her appointment and she too said she was achy so maybe it's not just me! We did a couple quick errands, picked up Freshii salad and back to her place to eat, then I headed home!

Hopefully tomorrow I can do something different now that this is all behind me. I need to sew a few more masks and some much wanted quilting time at least! My Scrap Sister Challenge has been begging me to get with it again!

Oh yeah I'm ready to drop off the RCMP quilt package to Mook Fabrics tomorrow for Thursday pick up by Stitched Art. I'm anxious to see this baby quilted and once I've the two accent pillows and binding sewn! YEAH!!!

April 29th

Thank you Bonnie for these treasures you find and post! 😀😀😀

An iffy day to join Edna for a walk, times so chilly we covered up, other times uncovering as we warmed up, but still nice to get out there.

Now resuming my scrap sisters challenge and hitting MAJOR setbacks, which I don't have time for! Guess I'll go back and press my seams to one side and see if that helps!

Okay I pressed to one side, hammered seams down, pressed to one side, sewed, hammered join down again, pressed then released a couple stitches, turned kinda, lying much better! Hmmmmm!

I must have checked a dozen videos and most had 5 layers not HSTs meeting up like I have.  GRRRR!!!!

Yeah I figured it out! I ripped back into the HSTs section and removed those tiny 4 pieces and restitched flat. Now I'm happy! Glad I don't have a king sized quilt blocks. YEAH!!!

Wine for sure tonight!!!!!!

April 30th

Not a good night at all!  Forgot to have the wine last night!  Too many things churning through my brain, then the added frustration sewing the HSTs together, I guess triggered a 3 hour insomnia spell! After half an hour I got up, made toast, set off the smoke detector at 3am, then sat for 2 hours ripping out the corners of 4 layers of adjoining HSTs. Finally tired enough to go back to sleep at 5am and slrpt till 10ish! GRRRRRRR!!! Not a good start for today, staying home!

HSTs Note to Self! ☝️

In future once trimmed to size, multiples sewn together into a larger block and then sewn into larger HST blocks. Open up bulky corners and remove the FOUR tiny in seam excess pieces of adjoining HSTs to reduce seam bulk, then sew back together. Much easier for opening centre joins to lay flat!!!! 🤗

A quiet day, sewing on my scrap sisters challenge! Much better going once the HST delimma was solved. I'm liking the looks so far and hopefully tomorrow I will see some of the layout, better than my paper rendition! 😉 Maybe, just maybe I'll make the May 15th finished deadline? Will see!  Now relaxing, enjoying a glass of Chardonnay and watching women's world curling.  Better be a better night!

Catchup - April 21st-26th

April 22nd

What a beautiful day for our revisited walks after a week's break! Maybe that's why my hip and leg are giving me grief! Feet up now!

This time we returned via Ness Ave, stopped into Sew Inspiring and I bought a pattern, there was a wall hanging I loved but it was a machine embroidery class. We ended up at Boston Pizza in St James for an awesome patio lunch! Then we slowly continued our way back to Edna's and me home!

April 25th

Flashback to 1981! Hmmmm I 💖💖💖 my long hair! But know it's not for me anymore!

April 26th

Ohhhhh when are people going to smarten up! So many abiding by restrictions are paying the price for the "nay sayers"! Guess it'll be another year of insanity!

It's been three days of no sewing or walks while trying to complete bookwork so I can get my taxes done! Yeah I know why leave it so long!!! Because it's no fun and other stuff! My own fault!

It was lovely to deliver a couple masks and visit on Colleen's deck for an hour!  Cleared the cobwebs out!

Catchup - April 19th n 20th

April 19th

What's on my mind? FRUSTRATION! See Saturday I had issues with ZOOM but that resolved closing a second ZOOM request window, not sure why they were trying to include me in a learning session at the same time! Then Sunday I noticed my cell was on Rogers not WiFi so went to check my router and Shaw connection and ZIPPO internet connection to my account! Tried to reconnect but it's not listed period? HMMMMM! It's been deduced by my techie that the router may have died and to contact Shaw for the all inclusive box to get reconnected. That's today's chore! We'll this morning my cell phone has no Rogers connection either? I phoned from my landline and get extreme calls, please call back or please use online options - yeah right!!! But my tablet has Rogers LTE connection! YEAH! Okay what to do first?

Something to try remember when needing a measurement in a pinch!

Dang! After spending the evening making a graph paper pattern for my Scrap Sisters Challenge quilt, I can't even send Sylvia a picture!!! And no I'm not posting it till the deadline May 15th. 😁😁😁

And today, 5pm, I found two baggies with another two sets of HSTs by my machine to sew up! SHEESH!!! Guess my design will change again! This'll be my third version. 😅😅😅

April 20th

This is one of my pet peeves! Lazy unprepared people driving snow covered vehicles! There should be hefty fines to them for careless use of vehicles!!!!! Even jail time for assualt with bodily injury! PERIOD!!!!

Well it was a productive day but with little sewing! See I needed to seriously purchase the batting and backing for the RCMP quilt and get threads on sale at Fabricland. So I picked up Sylvia as she wanted a few items and we ventured off! That was the fastest in and out of Fabricland I've ever had in Covid times! Mook Fabrics had some items I could not pass up and muslin for Edna (hope I picked up the right shade), then picked up lunch at Wok Box to eat at Sylvia's, our yummy favourite!

After lunch we headed to Cedar House Quilting and picked up the batting, then Sylvia asked how close we were to Selkirk, closer there than back to Winnipeg 😉! So I asked if she wanted to go check out Mama Bears new shop - dumb question - so off we went! It's smaller than her Ashern shop and I've not been to the current Brandon shop yet - soon! We both found some treasures there too! Lovely day even with the gusty winds and trying to snow off and on!

So this evening I started cutting the sashing and sewing up the strips for the Scrap Sisters Challenge quilt. I forgot how much I dislike Y seams, but after a couple the next 14 went well, hope that continues for the remaining 16! But I left the block layout for daytime lighting, hopefully tomorrow!

Catchup - April 16th-18th

April 16th

Awesome!  But sorry it's only a Facebook video link.

The Last 2 of Newfoundland and Labrador

April 17th

Well I arrived 3:15 and am outside 4:15 after my Covid shot. All is good! Now enjoying a raspberry lemon cheesecake ice cream! No black chery or burgundy here!

SHEESH it's crazy here! Eating my ice cream social distancing and then getting outta here! Few with masks! Crazy!

I changed my Facebook photo, but DANG I wish the map was of CANADA!

April 18th

Thank you to Angela/Bruce for those nails, they were perfect for hanging! These are in my tiny hallway between bedrooms (pocket door closed to living room) and the bathroom door has my table runner on it!

Slowly I'll get more smaller ones hung on my fabric storage cabinet doors too with upside down contact hooks with fishing line - like these kitchen cabinet ones are!  Slowly I'm cleaning/purging and organizing these days! I must be sick or Covid crazy!!!!

OMGG I thought I'd NEVER finish trimming my scraps (for this Scrap Sisters Challenge) from the 350 cut 2" HSTs (many pieced to make the original 2.5" squares). These were sewn into 25 HST blocks then the 14 individual strips cut from the centre before sewing the HSTs into seven sets of four larger HST blocks.

This picture is not my plan for these parts, just for picture presentation. I'm too tired tonight to start planning the top. I don't even know if I've enough for my idea! Oh well will do whatever, fitting in some of my leftover 1.5 metre gold stripe fabric along with the few 2" HSTs and slightly more 2.5" squares left over and my sashing!!! Not sure if I'll make the deadline but will try!

This is 1"high too!

Relaxing now watching curling!

Down Time!!!

Well I briefly saw Barb at work, then zipped over to Judy's to pick up my prizes before heading to Angela's! It was awesome to sit in her back yard and catch up some, actually a pleasant day! Bruce had a couple of questions in regards to my two repairs so answered that and we're on the same page! Hmmmmm what am I gonna make with these?  Thank you to the MPQ Executive for the basket of FQs and Design Wall for the B&W FQ assortment!  I appreciate all the quilt shops sponsorship at Guild events!

Shoot I forgot the label on my hanger so got right on it. Nothing fancy just info traced from computer printed page taped under the fabric label on the window for decent form and placement! And a couple times when I stopped I could barely find the needle and black thread! Now it's hanging in my living room!

Hmmmmm where's my needle?

Not bad match I say!

Glad I have some of these store bought labels.

MPQ Day!

PHEWIE!!!! I hated missing out on 3 sewing days to clear the three window areas for FIVE flippin' MINUTES of measuring for replacement windows. So last night I set up my sewing area and today from 9am to 5pm straight through worked on my shop hop hanger! I'm exhausted and hungry! Thank you Sylvia for inviting me for my favourite supper, chicken baked with rice and mushroom soup, green beans n bacon, tomatoes and dessert of homemade apple crisp and frozen yogurt! YUMMY!!!! Now waiting for MPQ ZOOM meeting!

My own ruler system - 1/2" bias bar and 6" ruler.

AND that lucky someone was MOI!!!! Plus you were to be present at this meeting for the Shop Hop draws to win, otherwise redrawn. Well I also won the prize from Design Wall! WOW!!!

This on top of the January Quilt Retreat $50 spending plus 8 half metres of batiks prize from OMA's! Triple WOW!!! Covid may have put a major crimp in my adventures but not my LUCK it seems!

Hmmmm guess I've no excuse to be productive!

Now relaxing with my feet up and maybe even tomorrow!!!!!

Back to Sewing!

Yeah it does feel awesomes seeing the floor and decorating possibilities, but I need those two deep sliding shelves to keep it off the floor!

And somehow I've a bruised middle toe(?) and when adjusting my chair a stinging swollen bruising cut on lower arm!

Dang housecleaning is dangerous for me! Never mind all the body aches! Not long ago doing dishes cut myself with a knife that took ages to stop bleeding! YEP I HATE housework!

Took them 5 minutes and out to the next suite. I asked when new windows would maybe be installed and was told 6 weeks! So not moving anything major back. Going to clear out my cube unit, magazines on bottom and organize other cubes, ready for finishing!

Also the caretaker is taking my old bedroom suite for whenever I get my tall dresser. YEAH!!! I don't need to call for pickup! Next is my accent living room chair to be replaced and one day a loveseat!

Now to move and set up my sewing station and get to quilting my shop hop hanger! 🙃

Ohhhhh pisses me off royally! Again the damn bike routes are cleaned down to the pavement but sidewalks and roads are covered and ruts! Sorry bikers, but that is TOTAL DISCRIMINATION!!!!

These past few days were just too much for me. But I at least set up my sewing area, spray n pin basted my shop hop wall hanging. I did a test sample and found a bit of the red came through to the back, adjusted my tension, tried again and good to go! See I'm going to quilt the top with white, red and back but using grey in the bobbin, all the same type of threads though! Enough today, tomorrow it is! Relaxing, feet up and enjoying a glass of chardonnay!

Winter's Back!!!

Winter's back supposedly only for a couple of days! Hopefully so!!!!

Ohhhh thank you 😘 Adele for restoring my hair style and some sanity too! Take care too!

I'm done in and also done with clearing a pathway to and at the windows! Now I wonder how long it'll be before windows are manufactured and ready to install, naturally no idea given, guess another 3 days warning when ready!!!

I'm so tired I'm shaking, yes I've eaten! Just not used to do major clearing in 3 days! I didn't get the items to the Goodwill, hopefully this week! Now will I find what I need to sew with tomorrow???

Half the livingroom.

Half the sewing room!

Cleaning - Purging

PHEWIE!!!! What a day considering I was not WANTING to do anything! Started sorting and cleaning up ghe living room, ran some errands, back to finally packing up my Christmas and Snowman collection (looks so bare without my friends), gathered all pocket books to drop off at Angela's, some computer stuff Tom might use and a wagon full off to the Goodwill too! And dishes plus organizing my plastic lids too! Finally 11 pm I'm sitting feet up watching curling!

Tomorrow is work on clearing a way to the window area of my sewing room, hair cut, above drop offs and back home to finish off in the sewing room! Then if time I'll start and hope Thursday finish off the quilting of my shop hop hanger for that evening's show n tell! 🙏🙏🙏 That is if I'm not a gonner by then! 😉

And dang those window measurers for new windows this summer better show up Tuesday!!!!!

Catchup - April 7th-10th

April 7th  ???

April 8th

Ooohhhhh what a lovely visit with Sylvia today! We sewed, Sylvia on her scrap challenge, me on my MPQ virtual shop hop hanger, all while her stew was cooking in the crock pot! Yes she not only invited me for supper but gave me a container for tomorrow's supper! YUMMY!!! I had scattered ideas for my hanger and just love talking it over with her, having her input and coming out on a better road to finishing! Still needs black bottom and side borders then onto quilting it! Maybe maybe just maybe I'll make the 14th's meeting show n tell!

April 9th

Today was a take it easy morning. Then did sheets, towels n throws loads when I was lucky to get the machines to myself. In between I sewed more of my scrap sisters challenge and finished off the shop hop blocks wall hanging top. It's bigger than I would have liked at 26.5x31", but there was no way Jose I was reducing that lovely log cabin Quilter's Den block nor leaving it out. Next is deciding on the quilting for each block and borders!

WOW WOW WOW!!! It took me 4 hours to gather and snip off loose threads front and back of the RCMP quilt - pencil for comparison only. I'm getting it ready for the longarmer soon!

April 10th

Nifty idea!!!!

SHEESH I need a turn off switch for this yucky and achy mood I'm in and a turn on switch of full ahead drive! I've a couple of my own projects to finish ASAP, picking out/up backing and batting for that RCMP quilt, a few masks for my dear friends Dale and Ted plus do some major clean up so the techies can get to my windows to measure so they can be replaced soon!!!!! 🤔🤔🤔 🤗🤗🤗

Anyways today was a yucky start, so I worked on the scrap sisters challenge, then a walk with Edna, quick grocery shopping and home to find the machines free so my clothes are in, YEAH! Just need more drive please! 🙏🙏🙏

What a beautiful day, but not our usual pace and both of us don't believe a winter weather front is coming!!!!!

Now relaxing with wine, sewing more HSTs and watching the Jets hockey!  GO JETS GO!!!
