Catchup - March 23rd-25th

March 23rd

My "wild one"!!!  I don't like these types of batiks but thought one is a must!!!

I can't believe I'm still using my original pinking shears from 1973-74!  Sure can't buy them at that price now!!!

March 24th

I'm anxious and yet excited too!  See after a phone call with my travel agent some plans are now finalized and others tentatively in place!

July 6th Amsterdam --- July 25th Winnipeg

WOW!!!  It's finally happening!

Decided to finish off the bonus block too.  Might need more depending upon my layout!

Ohhhh wellllll guess the Aurora Borealis are not dancing on demand for us tonight!  I had picked up Sylvia and we headed out just north of Birds Hill hoping to see some of nature's lights!  As we watched the starry partly cloudy sky nothing happened, then the stars were coved by solid cloudy cover.  So we went home!  Thank you to those who posted pictures taken yesterday!

March 25th

Okay, some asked about the layout.  Dang it, for my first choice spiral layout, I need 80 blocks which would make a 48x60" inside quilt top.  Then added borders for a larger size, for my travel quilt.  I only have 53 blocks!  So need 27 more blocks!  Maybe mixed options, draft new ones up or might choose some favourites and sew up in different colour fabrics?  Or maybe the others?

Catchup - March 18th-22nd

March 18th

Lovely day at MPQ with my neice Pat (Sylvia and Edna absent this time) and nice to see the three vendors there too along with their demos/presentations!  Today I also spent the remainder of OMA's gift card from the virtual retreat!  I know exactly what I'm going to make from this!  Hopefully it'll be a lap or mini quilt, will see!  Then we went to Sylvia's for lunch and she joined us checking out the Meadowood quilting retreat before dropping Pat at home.  We stopped into Fabricland before dropping Sylvia off and me home to relax!   Too early this morning for me!!!

March 19th

Autumn's colours.

Thanks for the class 66 bobbins Rose Anne.

Monica, I got a great sale so thought not worth trying to find thrift store ones!  💞

March 21st

I miss my summer sightings of this!  Even had a few trips on her too!

I'm caught up on my daily blocks!  Just 3 or 4 more to stitch up!

March 22nd

Well what a busy day!  I badly needed my Chiropractic appointment this morning.  Then picked up Sylvia and we headed off to Laundry World to wash/dry five quilts.  Edna introduced me to this place and I'm impressed how large,  clean, bright and very few machines out of service!  They have two huge tumble washers that 2 queen quilts can be washed together and dryers big enough for one quilt to tumble dry nicely.  Then home to stretch out to finish air drying them and back to my stitching!

1885 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 0H3, Canada

Here's the next block and glad it's an easy one!

Well it's only taken me 2-3 years to replace Sylvia's gifted pin cushion that I totally wore out the top to smithereens!!!  But finally a lovely and necessary sewing accessory!   I recycled her fibre fill and coaster, but added more fibrre, a top pouch with ground Turkish emery,  replaced the shelf liner under the coaster and the Sorbet lid ring too, that was cracked.  I even for the first time ever used my curved needle to attach the cushion to the tile base, lots easier than trying to use a regular needle.  I looks so lovely until I transferred my various needles and pins onto it!  😆  Now to rest my overworked left thumb which is giving me grief!

Catchup - March 13th-17th

March 13th

Sorry I'd filed #40 into the older folder by mistake.  Glad #41 is able to showcase the last of the Sunflower charm.

Darn it but I've lost one semi finished block, 1 traced block and my container of back basting supplies - I'm thinking they were in there to finish off tiny circles?  😢 🤔 😢  Honestly I do not know where/when I last had it!!!!

March 14th

Not sure about these colours or fabrics!  🤔

March 15th

Don't miss out!  I can't wait!

If you're in the city, come check out these awesome quilts on display, the quilter's boutique or various vendors with interesting items for sale, maybe bid on the Silent Auction quilts to help a local charity (I've made one for this) or buy tickets for the various Choice Auction baskets!

I even have three of my wall hangings entered and Sylvia has a lovely large quilt and four wall hangings entered.  Competition is fierce here!

Here's the photos of the info card!

Another see sawing on likes or not!  🤔

Well I had to stop and thank goodness it was the end of the quilting on this hanger.  Yes my shoulders were really giving me grief but I'm happy it's done.  I even used my 1x6" ruler to guide my walking foot for fairly even wider than the foot is - it worked beautifully!  No need for some marking in future when this works!!!

WOW!!!  Thank you Melissa for the beautiful pictures!  🥰  It sure shows what a decent display and lighting can do for ones quilt!  WOW!!!

Outside on their garage door!

On a Church pew!!!  That's a new one for mine!

A brighter one on the door.

March 16th

Okay so I’ve sandwiched a Western Retreat UFO from I think the mid-2000s but again no info and can’t find pictures either!  Very not like me, but then with so many camera and computer changes, what do I expect.  All I know this was a stack n whack class for a full sized quilt that I minimized to a table topper or wall hanging.  Also before I learnt the basics of pinning and lining up seams!!!  YIKES!!!!

A bit late but getting done, I could not push myself more!  This is an UFO from Sylvan Lake AB retreats early 2000s!  I definitely can see my growth in precision quilting since this baby!  30 inch square that needed quilting, label and binding.

Nifty try, will do this more so!

Attached my sample fabric whacked up!

March 17th

A little late, sorry!  Here's wishing you all a Happy

I couldn't resist posting this one from my group!!!  LOVE IT!!!

I love all three blocks!!!  ❤️❤️❤️
Since I'll be busy again tomorrow, here's #46 for March 18th too!

My St. Daddy's Day block.....even with the Eiffel Tower!   ❤
