Catchup - May 14th-24th, 2026

 May 14th

Gosh what a day!!! I was very productive at Meadowood Quilters today, only two outer vertical sashings to sew together and on and another I Spy quilt top finished off.

But "dang it" my just cleaned car was just a huge mess when I came out 2:30ish! WHY!!! And the trees out my window are totally lunatic tossing around like crazy with a dust laden sky, winds gusting to 80-100kms. And even though we've got new windows and they are closed I'm totally plugged up, hard to breath and smells dusty INSIDE!!! The window ledges feel gritty.

May 16th

YAHOOIE!!! I've booked my Nordic SPA day and found the "fastest" option for the cheaper UBER ride rather than booking it ahead!!! I checked the forecast and it should be hot and sunny that day!!! 😎🤞🥂 I can't wait!!!

Maybe my supper?

May 18th

Cool, recycling too!

Well even if this head cold is annoying, I have enjoyed the calmness of tatting scissor fobs. I'm not impressed with the variegated colours for the leaves and covering the rings, in future I'll choose complimentary plain colours. Maybe tomorrow I'll try a snowflake pattern.

May 19th

Ohhhhh I had bought a scrumptious Mandarian orange chicken salad and a new to me salad dressing!!! AND oh boy talk about YUMMY!!! I'll definitely be keeping this in stock!

May 21st

Well I go from inactivity for days to walking two days in a row. Yesterday was a bad day but I had an appointment downtown so with numerous stops I walked. Today I was feeling better so invited Aiada to join me and we walked Edmonton to Osborne, Broadway, to Edmonton home, minor aches and only three stops!!! YEAH!!! But that DANG wind. For some reason my tracker did not register, lucky the Samsung Health app does record movement!

May 22nd

So very very true!!! Thanks Barb for posting this.

May 23rd

I started celebrating early with Edna at the Keg. Usually I'm not keen on it but glad I tried again as food and service was awesome!

Garlic shrimp appetizer.

My BBQ pork ribs and Edna's prime rib.

Gifted Billy Miner cake.

Enjoyed this glass, wish I could have had more!!!

A Then and Now "story" came up, not much change my dear!

May 24th

Well so much for my going for a walk 2ish! While showering the lights went off, hmmmm, heard of cold showers here before but first for a dark one!!! Once out, I thought maybe my lights burnt out but nope an email from MB Hydro says power outage at my address! DANG that's twice recently!!!
So silly me thought we'd have emergency power to keep the hallway lights and elevator working so I could still go for my walk!

NOPE, NADA, NO SIREEEE - NO POWER PERIOD!!! And I'm not walking down six floors in the dark either!

About 3ish the power came back on so out I went for a walk but my body ached badly and I needed rest stops a few times.

Hmmm not sure where this is but will have to check it out one day!

On May 23rd a Then and Now "story" came up, not much change my dear! I didn't realize they disappear after a time! So I'm posting this to keep!

Tomorrow I'll be treating myself to Thermea Spa, not sure when I'll be home! ♥️

Catchup - Feb 10th-13th

 Feb 10th

Well I tried to make it for 8am but slow going so got here 9:15am. All was good and no trouble letting the Crew out or breakfast prepped and them fed with a longer visit outside again! Lexi snuck to the door just before and Wheeler coming up second.
It took me longer to relax after settling in! Now the Crew is napping and me with feet up watching the Olympics!

How true!!!

I finally got to watch "The Quilter" on Netflix - good story and awesome quilts! Pulled my heartstrings that's for sure, but glad some are finding peace while quilting!

Feb 11th

I'm getting energy to sew some blocks, my temporary setup. Similar to two behind the machine, called potato chip blocks. I'm so pleased with this scrapbooking box and picnic plastic flannel backed table cloth cut to 12.5" squares that a quilter at the Meadowood Thursday sewing showed me. Then on each square I planned out my blocks, stacked inside and held in place with a 12.5" square ruler with bagged extra chips on top. This I can use also with my I Spy layout blocks too! Organized, ready to sew, sewn blocks stored all together and compact too!

Okay Canada's men's curling finished with a win so I went out for a driveway walk. Crisp out there and even with my ear covers, I had to put up my hood, next time I'll wear my hat!
The right side jut out was a stop to check out some tiny foot prints. There was no point taking a picture as I had nothing with me to size it, but I'd guess 1" in total with 3 tiny toes?

OMGG finally I see what is stirring up the barking here!!! There are THREE deer crossing the yard to the neighbour's feeder (that was not there with the previous owners).

Feb 13th

OOOOHHHHH what a lovely morning, just a slight breeze and loads of sunshine! Thanks for the chair as I can't stand too long!!!

Well today was my 10th Laser Spinal Decompression Therapy and I had a reassessment done too. Basically I'd say my pain level and duration time has decreased 30-50%, plus I'm walking a km or so 3-4 times a week in the hallway or outside carefully. The one thing I've noticed since starting this is the numbness and tingling in my right foot has just about gone away. But the last 3 weeks or so I've noticed a very sore sometimes bad pain in my lower right side just off from the spine but not in the hip. I mentioned it and basically the pain will travel and hopefully ease up. 🙏🤞
I've another 10 visits then another reassessment as I'm halfway through the initial treatment cycle. Hopefully my pocketbook can manage this!
Also today I tried out their vibration plate (free with session) for 3 minutes and that sure shook and loosened me up. Will have to look that up and see if it's something for me to buy!

Ohhh BOY, I was listening to the tracking but felt good and my stops leaning over the sticks were further apart, so I waited for the km announcement. Sure hope I didn't over do it!

Okay am I feeling better or getting sick? Not only did I get some exercise earlier but also made supper from scratch. Besides my salmon steak (which I slightly over baked) Angie left some mushrooms and a huge bag of Romaine lettuce to use up. So I made a Greek ceasar, not that great. Gotta pick up some ceasar dressing as I'd run out of and dang forgot the Parmescan cheese! Oh well it was all delicious and now enjoying my Christmas wine, nectarine and watching Canada Olympic hockey!

Catchup - Oct 11th-23rd

Oct 11th

Oct 13th

I still like this!!!

These dreary windy days must be playing havoc with my aches but I'm trying to keep busy. Lately there are some crafty sewing items being stitched up for a couple craft sales coming up. One is at our ACQ gathering on Saturday and the other I'll be joining Sylvia at her craft table.

We'll have some baby quilts, table runners, table toppers, hot mats, mug rugs, needle cases, pincushions and various Christmas ornaments etc.

So save the dates if you're interested!!!

Oct 19th

Lovely autumn morning! Relaxing, feet up while dogs out playing and checking on the neighbours.

Now the three younger ones are rough playing, doesn't last long though or I stop it.

Oct 21st

Me, me, me!!! Totally forget to eat most times!

Oct 22nd

Hey it's been awhile but they still remembered me and were all over me till I played them out some! Then off they went to play. It's always been Bubba to snuggle by me and takes awhile before Dahli joins in.

Ohhh they were at the Perfect Paws for a spa day and they sent Taunya a picture! Cuties!!!

Oct 23rd

OHHHH MYYYY!!!! Frosty morning!

Then on the way home this beauty was out enjoying the sunshine!

Catchup - Sept 30th - Oct 10th

Sept 30th

Finally I've taken the pics of the placemats I finished the past two weeks for ACQ Meals on Wheels program.  I tried to use up some of my Canada themed fabrics but didn't make much of a dent!  Fronts and coordinating backs in one picture.

Oct 1st

Adele I hope you are doing better! 💞 I missed our chat and your awesome hair care!
Today I visited Georgia at Hair Passion and she too lifted my spirits even with my lingering cold!

Oct 2nd

How true!!!

This is so sad!!! I didn't go often but loved each visit and meal here!!!

Oct 4th

Well not the greatest start today after being woken up 11:30pm by a WICKED T-storm for a couple hours.
But I did beat the odds finishing with short ends my tatted snowflake Star 1 by Laura Bziukiewicz "Tatting Christmas Decorations" in size 20 Lizbeth. I had to switch to the chain shuttle for the last two rings as you can see the rings shuttle just about ran out!!!!! 🐔🐔🐔

Well today was the first class at ACQ and sounded like all were enjoying it with many completing there tops before I left at 2pm. Pat maybe halfway complete? Sylvia worked on her small totes, Edna worked some more on her hand quilting on her Celtic tree and I on my tatting!

Then back to the dogs to set a spell outside with them (only 2 as 2 are out at lake cottage for the weekend) before the Jays vs NYY game. Hmmmm TV says 5pm but the score just flashed an update, gotta figure out what's going on.

UPDATE: Pat sent me a pic of her completed top, needs paper torn off, pressed and then assembled for quilting.

Oct 5th

Well woke very late 9ish and surprised the dogs left me past their 7am breakfast! WOW!!!
Rough night with aches but OK!

WTH????? Crows/Ravens are going crazy out my window. Some are flying up over my building then gliding down into the treetops! WEIRD!!!

Oct 6th

Well I guess I've more energy finally!!! Last night I pulled out my previously cut/planned I Spy blocks and sewed up nine 9" ones before calling it quits, a few more yet to sew up.
Today I pulled nine 6x10x15" tubs of colour coordinated selveges, that were unstable, some were not full, so I combined some down to five of these tubs plus a small one of whites. These I put on the closet upper shelf and that heavier larger batiks tub onto the floor for easy access.
Then I Googled the Potato Chip block and proceeded to cut up my novelty fabric smaller pieces before tackling the FQs etc another day. I'm now hoping to have specific easy UFO projects continuing and hopefully to more ABC quilts sooner than later.

Oct 9th

Congratulations Blue Jays on first round! 🎉
Good luck in future!!! 🙏

Today was a good day for me and I accomplished a lot at Meadowood Quilters. See I had a bag full of my "I Spy" 9.5" blocks sewn up over the past three years, then Tuesday I sewed up another nine more and today I think 13 for a total of 72 blocks, yes I counted! This will make one 3x4 blocks with 1" sashing between and 3" border all around - around 37x47" baby quilt and three 4x5 blocks - around 47x57" kids quilts. Now to get them assembled with sashing/corner stones, borders and quilted!!! Some may gave blue borders, depending.
Also yesterday I cut out a slew of 2.5x4.5" pieces for my first potato chip quilt block and today I managed to sew up my first one. It was easy peasy and now I'm anxious to get to work on them too. So hopefully a few ABC quilts before Christmas!

Sylvia worked on her pouches. Finishing one and just about finished the second one!

I love these sewing days very much, nothing to distract me from the plan!!!

Oct 10th

A quiet day out shopping and a shared lunch at Boston Pizza before heading back to Sylvia's to finish off the fishy puzzle!!! Then I helped her attempt to set up the next puzzle that said it was a 1000 Bits n Pieces, HUH, not two pieces are the same!!! Strange, that the border pieces were separate from the rest of the pieces! Well after putting that together, started separating the other pieces we saw why! There are a LOT of pieces that could honestly be border pieces. I think when we're done with this one those border pieces will be broken up and placed into a sandwich bag before it's swapped out! Only fair since someone did that for us!!!
