Catchup - Jan 28th-30th

Jan 28th

I sure miss our personal sewing days ladies!  Aurora has evolved from those good old days!!!

Jan 29th

UGH!!! Rough sleep, shut off my alarm and slept in so quite late arriving at Sylvia's for another sewing weekend. This time with Pat.
What LOVELY surprise, Amanda and Astro were here visiting so got to chat with him after his shyness went!

Then setting up, I forgot my plugs for my machine so back home for them, lucky I'm close by. Hope it's better luck making my taco salad lunch for us and my sewing! But look at the beautiful snow crystals in the sunshine!

OMGG, I think I'm crazy doing this mini? Sorry can't show you the actual 1" block or pattern. It's a surprise so have to wait till the actual 4" project is finished, Sent out and received! Stay tuned!

Well we shut down 8ish as I was too tired to concentrate on my mini any longer. Supper was compliments to Pat, perogies, smokies with corn plus fresh fruit. Sylvia and Pat are working on a mini 8" Dahlia hanger and I sure wanted to record this day but wouldn't have been nice of me! 😘 Might have their's finished tomorrow and pictures taken and posted.

Jan 30th

YAHOOOOIEEEEE!!!!! ðŸ’ŦðŸ’ĨðŸ’Ŧ
I've finally finished my just over six month project and soon going out in the mail to it's new owner! Pictures to follow when received.
BUTTTTT I can tell you that reducing a 6" paper pieced block to just under 1" size is for lunatics! My sewing machine told me that many times! ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

We all were working on minis and none of us were having a fun time but we persevered and just about finished all!

Then I picked up an UFO bought from the The Quilting Trunk in Dryden 3-5 years ago, 96 HSTs I'd sewn up earlier! I loved the tin and decided I'd like to try the pattern out too. Moda Frivol No. 2 Polka Dots & Paisleys Minick & Simpson - Faithful 26"x26". The jury is still holding out on the verdict.

Pat did finish off her mini Dahlia and Sylvia was working on her hand finishing before I left.

Lunch today was reubans by Sylvia and supper was Peking Chinese - all was YUMMY!!!

On the way home I swung around to Angela's to pick up two large bags of various cut pieces, yardages of cottons, flannels and fleece for future baby/kids quilts! WOW!!! Thank you so very much Joan and Angela! Between us we'll do our best to cheer up some children with whatever quilts we sew up, delivered through MPQ's ABC program.

Catchup - Jan 24th-27th

Jan 24th

Here's Day 6 of Jane's mystery tatting fun.
http://tatitandsee.blogspot.com/?m=1
I'm using Lizbeth size 20, colour 692 Mocha brown Med.
Hmmmm I'm not so sure about my Spoonbill's guess with this addition, maybe a seahorse?  Unless I've done something wrong with R12 as it's smaller than Jane's instructions!  Buttttt I'm still going with the Spoonbills for now!!!

I'm going to have to start making some more generic fabric postcards for RPKs (Random Postcards of Kindness). I love bringing a smile, chuckle or happy tears to anyone receiving these! 💞💞💞 My latest going out tomorrow to NS Canada.

One more deadline met! YEAH!!! January 2022 "Sparkles" PFA swap card will be mailed tomorrow off to The Netherlands! So I used metallic or sparkly threads for the fireworks fallout from a centre of seed beads. Who knew fireworks would be so challenging, but they sure were! Guess I was trying too hard to be realistic looking! 😉

This was just posted! Sad to see but honestly who can be sure what is on Covid-19's agenda, so much uncertainty!
The quilt raffle will be held according to ticket information!

May 25th

My PFA Favourite Seasons card from Jackie B arrived today! Thank you for your spring floral display, even the stamp too! This reminds me of my earlier fabric postcards using paper backing then too.

Jan 27th

Here's Day 7 of Jane's mystery tatting fun.
http://tatitandsee.blogspot.com/?m=1
I'm using Lizbeth size 20, colour 692 Mocha brown Med.
Hmmmm I'm thinking maybe a seahorse?  Unless I've done something wrong with R12 as it's smaller than Jane's instructions!  Butttt my Spoonbills guess was so good!!!

What a day! The snow cleaners were coming this morning so up early and did my errands before 1pm. Snow cleaning was everywhere, good too as some accesses had 6 foot plus snow piles blocking traffic!

Even visited, masked, with Michelle when dropping off some stuff for her too! Soooo lovely!!!!

Come home, parking lot wasn't even started!!! Dang it!!! 15 minutes later I hear the bobcat so out to Sylvia's for the afternoon, she was happy as I picked up batting and basting spray for her! I even helped remove the pin basting on a baby quilt which even with masking edges still had rippled. Now she can use her spray and be much happier! Come home 4ish and all is done! Now supper and the Jets!!!

Catchup - Jan 22nd-23rd

Jan 22

Here's Day 5 of Jane's mystery tatting fun.
http://tatitandsee.blogspot.com/?m=1
I'm using Lizbeth size 20, colour 692 Mocha brown Med.

Weelllll I think this is the first time or one of very few that I'm guessing so soon!  Like others it might be a swan as Jane sure takes a lot of beautiful pictures of them!  Buttttt I'm more leaning towards a variety of the Spoonbills!!!

Under my needle today! Maybe layer and quilt it later today. These are leftover pieces from 2015 for Alan's retirement table topper gift of Celtic emblems. So I'm sewing them into a wall hanging! LOVE IT MUCHLY!!!

Update: well the quilting is finished so tomorrow attaching the binding and label.

Jan 23rd

Yeah!!!! This UFO from 2015 is totally complete! Not nice they have waited so long but I'm sure they will still be very happy to receive it! This was originally fabric purchased for Alan's retirement gift back in 2015 but he did not want the crosses!

No problem as my friend spoke up for them! You can't see the walking foot quilting, but it's pretty darn good for me, framed the crosses, on both sides outside the green borders and a stencil for outer borders. 8 1/4" X 24 1/2"

Spent the afternoon at Sylvia's working on another fabric postcard, this Celtic wall hanging, she washed four of Edna's ABC donation quilts PLUS enjoyed a lovely ribs supper with her too! Thank you!

TIAS - Day 4

Here's Day 4 of Jane's mystery tatting fun.

http://tatitandsee.blogspot.com/?m=1

I'm using Lizbeth size 20, colour 692 Mocha brown Med.

Still have no idea what this will grow into in the weeks ahead!  But I sure enjoy these little bits of instructions building to the finish!  You Betcha!!!

What to Do But Sew!

Jan 20th

The ladies are over this afternoon to finish off our Ocean State blocks then we'll work on our own finishing off wall hangings!  Supper soon then our MPQ ZOOM meeting this evening!

What a lovely afternoon visit with Sylvia helping both of us to finish off out Ocean State blocks correctly! It didn't look difficult but still a bit tricky! Thank you Sylvia and Edna for sharing in the yummy supper!

Then much excitement during the MPQ ZOOM meeting AND another scrappy bag type quilt challenge from those two Scrap Sisters along with the ABC committee!!! Hmmmm what will we find in these bags, profits after various prizes will all go to buy batting for the ABC quilts program. Awesome! I can't wait for the baggie and opening day!

Jan 21st

BRRRRRR!!!!  It's like 17°C in here, chilly and the parquet floor is frigid!  I oke 6ish briefly, noticed sewing room was brighter (street light out front) and checked, sure enough my huge snow drift was gone!  Hopefully no one was out n about whenever it happened!  I've turned the heat up twice now and just a tinge of warmth, might have to do it again as it's not nice in here!

Well yesterday I had an awesome ski hill on my sewing room window ledge (6 floors up) and today it's reduced to Jack Frost artistry! Nope I've not ventured out to see what the driveway looks like! Not going to either!

About 35" drift!  Like 3/4s my window.

LOVE this creation!

Talk about chilly in here, especially the floors! I've toasty toes now! Was to go for a walk with friends but I chickened out!

17°C this morning, turned up the temp 3 times and finally no so chilly!

Okay I call it quits on this wall hanging for now! Lots of figuring along with help from Sylvia, but it's ready for sandwiching then some free motion quilting on the ship block at least! Hope I don't wreck it! Thank you Alice for demoing the ripless paper piecing technique this weekend! ❤ I'll be switching to this method for future projects!

Then on day it'll go to MPQ ABC program, probably to St. Amanda Centre to dress up one of their homes!

Back to Normal?

Jan 17th

WOW!!!  Just about all back to pre-retreat state!  One more load of dishes and then all done!  Right, no dishwasher here and I HATE doing dishes!  😆😆😆  Need it ready for MPQ ZOOM meeting Thursday!

Jan 18th

Ohhhh yeah it's a snowy blustery day out there that's for sure! See yesterday my livingroom outside ledge was clear of the previous snowdrift accumulation, not the sewing room - that's still there and climbing! Good thing I've loads of sewing to work on!

Captured 1:35pm.

New drift started on livingroom ledge.

Previous ledge the darker lower level, above is today's and climbing.

Just snowfall.

Slight gusting.

Stronger gusting.

Update on sewing room window ledge snow drift! It better not be me driving out when that falls!!!!!

And the increased livingroom window ledge.

Monday was a quiet day and I finished sewing the center and corner blocks of the Ocean State block from the virtual quilting retreat.

Jan 19th

Today is another quiet day! Relaxed some and pulled out my previously started but set aside placemats from the BQ Goes Mini by Maple Island Quilts. I had the black and white pieces sewn together and the other pieces cut out! Well today I sewed the tops together and then I need to decide how to quilt them. These are my FIRST set just for me!

Separate pieces.

Tops all sewn together.

I'm thinking of doing some Celtic emblem in the green squares!

Now getting ready and hopefully catch up on TIAS 2022 by Jane Eborall.

Okay I finally sat a spell and started on Jane Eborall's 2022 TIAS, mystery tatting fun.

And here are my Days 1, 2 and 3 all together!

I have no idea what this will grow into in the weeks ahead!

MSC MPQ Virtual Cruise Retreat - Day 2

Jan 16th

MSC MPQ Virtual Cruise Retreat - Day 2

First time I've made a taco salad for our lunch!

What a LOVELY virtual quilting retreat with my sister and friend at my place! Well worth the tedious purging and cleaning to have them over!

I had enlarged the schooner pattern for the ripless paper piecing demo by Alice! Love this technique but this was a very challenging start! All three of us finished in time for Show n Tell, but not the Ocean State block than Sylvia reduced some.  We might add the Ocen State block below the schooner for wall hangings or a child's quilt.

As a reward I ordered Santa Lucia Special pizza with ceasar salad and I'd invited Pat over for supper with us and she thankfully drove her Mom home for me! That left me taking only Edna home and relaxing feet up with a glass of wine!

Actually I'm looking forward to another such sewing day here! 😉👍 But first a few quiet days relaxing for me!

MSC MPQ Mystery Cruise - Day 1

Jan 15th

We're on the MSC MPQ Mystery Cruise by ZOOM at my place!  Muster call and prevailing instructions video and special instructions for quilting at sea!  The fun begins!

OMGG I've won a $50 GC to a quilt shop of my choice! I won last year too! Hmmm where am I gonna go shopping????
I just LOVE the KEEP CALM sayings!!!

Awesome day! Thank you to both ladies for Meals today, sandwiches n pickles lunch provided by Edna and BBQ ribs n rice with provided by Sylvia plus Peking Chinese fried greens. Yummy with pineapple chunks, fruit cocktail, banana bread and Christmas cookies for dessert n snacking!

And today I won a $50 GC for the quilt shop of my choice (a repeat from last year's virtual retreat)! WAHOOIE!!!!

Gosh my energy just got up and yamoosed around 8:30 - totally weird for me. So I'm crashing! Tomorrow's another day with Pat joining us for Santa Lucia pizza supper and visit!
