Catchup - March 9th-12th

March 9th

Ohhhh I forgot to post this last week.  It's a candy dish Sylvia crocheted for Taunya for the awesome cacti she gave her!
And yesterday I took these pictures of street decor on Corydon.

WOW!!!

Love the closeup!

Way too cool!!!!

How cute!!!

And today I received another fabric postcard swapped! Thank you Cindy Shelby for your lovely card "Romance in the Air!" I'm surprised it survived the postal system with the chain adornment. πŸ‘

March 10th

In one of my quilting groups someone pointed out sewing together actual blocks as leaders and enders. Well between Sylvia and myself I've a baggie of cutoff HSTs and I'm doing that while adding pieces onto my alphabets to make them even blocks. Awesome use of thread!!!! Whomever mentioned this, thank you for the tip!!! Much appreciated!!!

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!! Shumka Dancers!
Pat has gotten Sylvia, herself and I tickets to this and we are very much looking forward to it!

Well I edged two sets of ABCs blocks to equal size of 6.5" W x 6" H. Then while watching/listening to the Jets game figured out my layout and decided I'm going to square the blocks to 6" and one will only have one side add on. Will make a better finished quilt size this way! Dang it, should have figured it out first! πŸ™„

March 11th

Now this is a very worthwhile trucker convoy, not like these so called freedom fighters!!!!

🀣🀣🀣
Could be any province with this year's heavy snowfall and winds creating higher drifts!

Well I was gone for my massage Wednesday when snow cleaners came with the driveway free of my car. Then yesterday that dang wind blew the snow around but not enough that I needed to shovel out this morning! Not back an hour and they came again so I pulled out to give them the whole drive unencumbered! Just awesome!!! They arrive after the snow stops, perfect!

Ohhhh and here's the 'Crew' all behaved as it's treat time!!! HMMMM!!!

March 12th

Good morning! A lazy day catching up on curling I was too tired to finish last night watching after the Jets game. Glad Angie has them recorded but now tie game is duped but not deleting anything.
Back to sewing my child's ABC blocks quilts today. And got an ides for all the small sized HST cutoffs I've collected.

Ohhhh I'm so excited I heard of leaders and enders turning into a project! I've only been sewing this way a few hours and making a big dent in my excess HSTs. Can't wait to see four pieces sewn into a square and continue to build bigger!

I had to go out and out front looked OK and the back was a bit gusty, so was quite surprised when exited the development! Regent, Portage and Century/Silver were like light snow and blowing snow, sometimes white out conditions! Definitely not what the Weather Network says! Needless to say I was glad to be back to the dog, sewing and curling!
And a half hour later barely can see front or back!

December 9th & 10th

Dec 9th

Dang it!!!!!  I did it again, slammed my second smallest toe on my left foot into my quilting case, it's not broke, just bruised and hurts like HELL!!!  😒

Yeah guess I should listen to inside shoe wearing advice!  🀣🀣🀣  I'm a barefoot girl even outside but these digits are paying the price.  I've only 2 toes on each foot that hasn't been broken or like this one bruised!  Now the two little toes on each foot, now they will all match!

Dec 10th

I'm felling blessed!

Hope the magic of Christmas makes your spirit merry and bright. πŸ•―πŸ•Š

May the sights and sounds of this lovely holiday season bring lasting memories to brighten the new year ahead. 🌲☃️πŸŽΆπŸŽ‰

Wishing you all warm and friendly wishes for a very Merry Christmas πŸŽ„ and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year πŸŽ‰!

Love and Hugs, Rose Anne πŸ€—πŸ’ž

January 29th Catchup

Jan 29th

Despite the frigid -40sC temperature, down to -50sC with windchills, I still ventured out!  Guess another saying not to be bandied around like "I'll never do that"!!!!!! 🀣😜🀯

Thank you Barb P for the lovely lunch, home visit and the loan of your Jennoop quilt suspension unit.  I'll try it out and let you know how it works for me.  Much appreciated and thank you.  Hope you have a wonderful escape from this cold spell and looking forward to another visit on a warmer day. πŸ€—

While driving my tire pressure light came on so stopped into Urban Garage to check and make my oil change appointment.  It was confirmed the cold will lower pressure enough to trigger the sensor and might be OK, they'll check.  Also when mentioned I need an appointment they said they'd do it now!  WOW!!!  This place has awesome efficient staff and both waiting room and shop are well maintained and clean!

This was on my Canadian Quilters FB and had to share with friends n family!

Well I think I've the Split Rings technique in my head as I didn't have to refresh before starting Riet's Dragonfly - alternative method of working!  Also I've taken liberties here!

Jan 30th

WELL I'm not sure what I expected but honestly it was better than that!  I was out driving and yes I let my baby warm up first.  Then headed for my hair cut bringing Adele a steeped tea, then a bit of needed shopping before a just because stop at Tim's again, this time for Barb B at work before heading home.  Again thank you Adele for the awesome styling and at least my hair is ready for Cuba even if I'm not!  I LOVE my curls!!!  Plus was dressed appropriately!!!

OMGG if I saw this while travelling I'd probably cause a traffic incident to get my pictures!!!!

https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2019/01/lace-murals-nespoon/

Then I prepped my pictures for the Northern Lights Lacemakers monthly newsletter!

PHEW!!!!  I didn't think I'd finish off this bobbin lace practice piece worked on last October 2017!  But after rereading the lesson preparation and a number of false starts I finally got the hang of it and completed sections d, e and braiding off - that is except for the extra pair, I'm lost and too tired to figure that out!  Now to let the lace set a spell before removing the pins etc.  I also fixed my new travel pillow's insert that seemed uneven and ready to sew pillow n working covers and matching bobbin carrier.  Then I'll be ready to start the next lesson, but not till I've my personal teachers nearby to help me over the stumbling blocks!!!

Good night!

Busy Day

Started off with our 2018 Christmas lunch at 529 Wellington, better late than never!  My salad was very delicious but shrimps were pricey but it was special so had them.  Edna liked her onion soup and the sweet potato fries were the best we've had so far anywhere, not oily, burnt or mushy at all!  Very relaxing atmosphere too!

Look at the size of that huge bottle next to the normal ones!

Well today after our lunch I put away all the visible new Christmas ornaments in the special boxes I bought 3 years ago!  Next week I'll find a box or tub and remove the larger Christmas decor too.  Then also next week I'll have to sort my summer clothes, wash em and decide what to pack etc.  I've been getting other stuff together too and yesterday dropped off my goodies for the Cubans to Iona and she's very happy and her pile is huge!  And in between I've been crocheting bobbin holders for myself and maybe for friends.  Now feet up relaxing with the crew - Jake is hiding!

This face is deceiving - he's being bad again!

Christkindle Market - Fort Gary Mall

Well it's small but sure loved the music centered in the mall and also the miniature train display - made a small donation to them!  As for the vendors some were the same as I saw at CanadInns with Colleen but there were a couple different that I wished I had excess funds to enjoy - not that I need more!!!  Also bought some German gingerbread cookies I love too!  πŸ™„  Nice day for a short walk to the Forks also.

Would have loved to stay and listen more but too crowded for my liking.

These crocheted dresses were huge but beautifully made by the lady in green!

These paintings are on saw blades painted black by this young woman.

Here are my purchases - some are gifts.

These are MINE, made in Germany!!!!  But sold locally and come in four different sizes, mine is the smallest.

2018 TIAS - finished

Glad it was not any colder this morning as Edna and I joined the winter walking group in Woodhaven Park for a good hour walk.  The sun was nice and as we walked the scenic residential area but on the way back the north wind was stinging on the face.

Then home for a bit of cleaning and planning on purging etc.

AND I finished off my tatted mermaid.  I love her and maybe add her to my Under The Sea crazy patch embellishing piece I taught online in the Canadian Crazy Quilting group years ago.

Saturday's Finds

Not sure why I didn't wait with the previous post to include the pictures - not thinking I guess!!!  LOL!

So first off Karen picked up this lovely wall hanging for my sewing room while down in Weslaco TX this year and as Michelle said it's perfect for me!!!  Thank you Karen!!!

Then at the Antiques Collectibles in Selkirk (downstairs in the Gallery on Main St.) I found these treasures for myself.  The Oriental pincushion is something I've wanted for a while and here's one in GREEN!!!  Then there was this old suitcase holding various doilies, towels etc and I limited myself to this one with the butterflies and cluny bodies.  Then found this huge stack of lovely cared for hankies and could not resist picking these up.  I can see some awesome angel ornaments one of these days from them except for the two Irish ones.
See the trip I'm going on to Ireland, taking in the International Quilt Festival of Ireland has asked for "hand blocks" from participants and I'm hoping to add the Shamrocks one as a cuff at the base of my hand.  Will see if I can pull it off.  Then when I get back home and have some time I'll do up another hand block to match and add the daintier Shamrock as a cuff for myself, maybe add some particulars of the trip etc in the block.
