Churchill - Day 4

Aug 7th

Tour #2 - Dog Carting - Day 4

This was quite enticing and I was looking forward to it.  Definitely not the school bus ride over these rough roads.  Anyways we get to David Daley, born and bred "Churchillian" Metis dog musher of Churchill, and WOW what a well maintained business, even a greenhouse to grow their own veggies and fruit inside!  He was very knowledgeable of Metis history!  Very enjoyable even if my crouching to fit 3 across wrecked my knees for a stretch.

The local greenhouse.

The town water pump station.

These two are house and racing dogs.

They hear David's voice about dog commands.

Smudge for insects.

David getting ready.  Sylvia's going first.

Dogs getting ready too, doing their business before harnessing up.

Look at that one dog jumping wanting to go now!!!

This is the Mom and her pups on a team!

That sand/grey one is the hardest worker and you'll see later how exhausted he was.

Off they go!

The banner is in recognition of Manitoba’s Homecoming 2010, a year-long celebration marking the province's 140th birthday.  David kicked it off racing his team all the way to Winnipeg.

David's greenhouse.

Their winter mushers mitts.

Sylvia coming back in!

Well maintained dog kennels.

This is supposedly 5 🌟 washroom!   I wanted the pic for the lace curtains.

They are tired!  It's really getting too warm as they are still shedding their winter coats!

I messed this one up but whatever!

Breezy out!  Kept the bugs away!

See how tired he is!but he'd continued is asked!

I thought this fence betweenthe two dogs leading units was interesting.
