Sewing Days

Feb 25th

Yummy chicken taco salad again!  I'm definitely going to have more of these for lunches!

And I found 104.3 Oldies on the music channels so danced around with these two not sure what to make of me, jumping around and barking at me!

I guess my sewing machine foot pedal in their under the table space and the vibrations have deterred them venturing there! Guess I'll move the blankets out for them and see if they'llmove to them. 😉

RABs Chicken Taco Salad (as requested)

Bagged salad of choice

2 Chicken pieces baked in one-third pkg Taco Seasoning

Grated cheese

Taco chips broken up (I use Hint of Lime)

Chopped tomato

3 tsp salsa

2-3 tsp sour cream

Mix all together and enjoy.

Good morning! At least I hope it'll be! 🙄 See Princess does not like going out in the cold, but I honestly thought she had last night! Guess not totally, as around 4am she woke me and sure enough she was first out the door and had to go! Thank goodness they went back to bed but snored so much ðŸ˜ī it took me awhile to do the same! And after breakfast she alone snuggled in the pillows! So cute!!!

Awesome Sewing Day with MPQ on ZOOM so far for me this morning - 3 hours and sewn 3 Pat Speth's MAB - Block #14 with my minor triangle changes! Maybe I'll get another 2 or 3 blocks sewn up, between door duty!

Well MPQ Sewing Day is over and I'm very pleased with myself! I've completed FIVE 12.5" blocks with inset centre squares, the first took close to 2 hours to sew up. And that's with lunch and door n treat duty! Most of the time they were close by and now practically on top me!

Looks interesting this way too!

Not far from me.

Unfortunately we had visitors in the yard up close this afternoon and the pugs weren't happy or willing to go out! Hope it was only the neighbour's dogs, labs or some mix.

Oh ohhhh!

Feet up relaxing a half hour then prepping supper!

Dahli on me soon after sitting down!

now both right there not budging!

He loves my slippers too!

Snow Snow Snow Go Away!

 Feb 24th

This is what went missing on my previous post then showed up today again.

Well at least it was a nice day for a visit! Things are definitely different here with ALL this snow and absolutely NO back yard at all. Snowdrifts are higher than the fence posts! So will have to watch them when out as there are LOADS of escape routes PLUS the other neighbour's free-to-roam dogs come here too? Not good! Lucky these two don't like the cold!

Awesomeness sunset through the bedroom window.

Through the frosted screen door.

From outside.

Not happy Mom left!

Back of the house.

From the deck straight across the yard!

Fence post tops barely visible.

Not until the neighbour's yard.

It's going to be very wet here!!!

Catchup - Feb 21st-23rd

Feb 21st

OMGG!!!!  They are so danged cute all groomed and know it too!  Thank you for this awesome photo Taunya!   She's sure growing too!

Feb 22nd

Yummy lunch with Sylvia at Boston Pizza at Polo Park.  Haven't been here in awhile!

Awesome day with Sylvia!!! It started with dropping off various horse fabrics from my stash to further plan out the 5 yard quilt pattern for one of the ABC quilts from my friend's fabric donation. Then out for fabric purchases for both our mystery quilts, lunch at BP and then back to her place to sandwich my sewn ABC quilt tops. See she's showing me how to bring the backing to the front for a wide blanket binding. I'll probably finish those off the latter part of March even though I'm anxious to see how it looks!!!

Feb 23rd

Ohhhhh what a sewing day!  I'm kinda changing Pat Speth's MAB Block #14 for my MPQ Mystery Quilt project.  I am using from my stash the cream centre and gold cornerstones with the mystery bag's cream and paisley HSTs.  First finishing off the corner strips and then measuring and cutting the whole paisley triangles for the dreaded inset sewing.  ðŸĪ”🙄ðŸĪŠðŸ™ƒðŸĪ—  I honestly didn't want to cut up the lovely paisley that I wanted to add to my stash, as MAB Block #14 instructions are, I wanted the triangle an intact piece of fabric.  Well it worked, but took a couple hours to accomplish the 12.5" block!  Wonder how long it'll take to sew up the remaining nine blocks!

MAB Block #14 slightly changed.

Catchup - Feb 19th-20th

Feb 19th

Hey Ricky saw on FB and told us on Aurora that SNOW is not a word!  It's an acronym "shit no one wants"!  Yeppers this time I agree!  My sewing room ledge building up again.

Feb 20th

Ooooh my, Angela sent me their pictures of her shovelled snow pile in their small back yard, where her garden is! I wonder how long it'll take to dissappear this spring, so she can start on gardening? Apparently next week it's supposed to warm up some so pray there's sunshine to reduce the snow piles here in Winnipeg!

That's a 6 foot fence just visible behind.

So today I worked on my first set of blocks for my MPQ Mystery Quilt 2022 with Pat Speth's MAB Block #6. I had lots of issues with this pattern and was glad I made a practice block from my stash before cutting fabrics. I've preempted them on the green paisley that will be featured in the alternating MAB Block #14 next. There was not enough cream fabric inside the mystery bag so the cream in the centers and cornerstones are from my stash. Tomorrow I'll do a practice block of #14 from my stash again to ensure it works before cutting all pieces!

Catchup - Feb 17th-18th

Feb 17th

Well for once I had a themed fabric postcard ready to mail out once recipient's name was received for the PFA Swap (mailed well ahead of month end).  The only thing I don't care for is my penmanship!!!  I like my WORD generated postcard backs better!  I also  wanted to tat a heart and attach it over the fabric heart design.  Pattern is Heart for Laura by Jennifer Williams, I tatted in Lizbeth size 20 colour 671 Christmas Red.  Nope not possible as I had thoroughly stitched down the ribbon bow, so just temporarily tacked it in place on the opposite side.  This way it can be removed and used elsewhere without damage.

You can see the temporary thread joins.

WOW a surprise today! My tatting swap from Janella of Alfred NY USA arrived with a few lovely useful items and a letter! First off is a tatted 4x5" red heart (free pattern from Handy Hands 2021 catalogue, also on their website as a free pattern) I just may stitch onto a simple mug rug to enjoy by my easy chair. Also in my colours she needle tatted in yarn a 7" hot mat that for sure I'll stitch onto a plain protective hot mat to use. This Marigold pattern is from the book "New Tatting" by Tomoko Morimoto. And also her own experimenting with split rings tatted scissor fob, each one turns out differently she says, and it matches my scissors. 💞 Thank you.

Okay here's another item going out into the mail tomorrow, again before the month end deadline. This is part of the Fringe Tatters swapping program, celebrating their 50th exchange. So I've chosen something "Celtic", The Celtic Chain Donut Pendant by Patti Duff published in the IOLI, The Bulletin, Spring 2019 in a colour I'm not used to using, so hopefully she likes it. Used Lizbeth size 20 colour 129 Purple Splendor with 601 White. This can be made into a pendant or broach, a decoration sewn onto a bag or hat band or a hanging decoration. Also the Celtic Knot Christmas Tree Heart pattern by Ruth Perry. This little decoration was very challenging for me and glad I finally got it woven and anchored into place! Used Lizbeth size 20 colour 181 Cranberry Blush.

Feb 18th

OH MY!!!! It was a might miserable walking to Winnipeg Clinic for blood work and to the PO at Portage Place then home. Sidewalks were just about blown in and previous footsteps uncertain. But look what I saw coming home! Spectacular!!!!

Feb 18th

Sylvia and I had an ABC sewing day with reubans for lunch and we went over to Sal's for supper! We're working on the huge bags of donated fabrics, mixing some of our fabrics in and making up various types of ABC quilts. I'm taking pictures as we finish and sending to Joan to show what we've made from her stash!

Sylvia finished one pieced baby/kid quilt and tomorrow will finish off a whole cloth quilt too! She helped sandwich and I did clamshell quilting on one off the four flannel blocks quilts I'd sewn together recently, brought it home to put the label and binding on it this weekend.

Fancy stitched binding.

Clamshell quilting of flannel block quilt.

She's working on the binding for this simple whole cloth type quilt.

It was a lovely way to pass a brisk winter day - not at all blizzard like conditions!

On the way home I passed a water main break just north of Morley on Osborne.  The south bound lane was the worst with rippling water flowing into the northbound lanes.
