Lace Retreat

And here are some more of my tatted and beaded dragonflies all set for Lace Retreat. Tonight I just set up my stuff, showed Jacqui my travel pillow and bobbin carrying roll that she helped me with ideas and supplies! Otherwise I just relaxed and chatted! I had spent the afternoon trying to upload my Cuba pics to Walmart to be printed off and as I was finishing up 335 of 350 max the program timed out and lost all!!!! Needless to say I was totally peeved and got ready to go instead!

Messy picture as I forgot to get the picture before prepping them for sale.

These I just finished tonight so staged them on my bag.

Getting Ready for Lace Retreat

Well I was only going to post a picture of my completed Hedgehog Pincushions (wool roving stuffing) for my Lace Retreat vendor sales this weekend.

Blue one is spoken for.
Varies in size 2-3 inches.

Until I received this oh so funny graphic portraying my busy life!  Except I wish I was that fanatic about my home as I am about my hobbies!!!! 🤣

Having Fun!

OK this year I'm aiming for completing and delivering my ...old, new, borrowed & blue... Quilt Challenge this time around!  Also I've decided to have some fun before it's displayed at the Quilt Show.  I've many times purchased various quilt store or show challenges and very few I've completed.  This one just intrigued me enough to get busy on it.

As the theme goes, here's my thinking on it.
"Old" - using Black & White which I do seldom
"New" - a kit of new and unusual fabrics for me
"Borrowed" - my embellishments from my sister Sylvia plus an idea I had in again reducing a pattern
"Blue" - using two fabrics from my stash and one I had to purchase for my ideas

So this time I'm also not showing my finished work until I see it on display, but am going to tease you some!  That's the kid in me having fun!  So if you're going to the show see it all finished there - that is if I finish it!!!  So mark your calendars!

And still having fun into the 11th week of #52blocks52weeks and can't wait for more.  I think it's the variety of my Canadian fabrics that makes this so.  This title is very appropriate!  Plus the group and the variety of fabrics being used.  AWESOME FUN!!!

Now to tackle laundry!

Awesome Day

Awesome day! First was a followup labworks appointment with my Dr with the best results in a while except my good cholesterol was lowered too! So basically he said I can continue with reduced dosage of CardioFlex but to add BeneFibre and continue my trying to eat good along with my walking. We'll see what happens in 3 months! WOW I'm impressed! 🤗 Then I picked up Edna and headed to Grace Hospital to walk the Sturgeon Creek Pathway! Yeah right!!!! There is no pathway, it's all under snow, so we headed back Portage to the Assiniboine Park footbridge to try there. A guy said the bush trail was wet impassable in a few spots so we turned left towards Wellington Cres for our walk. Just a lovely day! 🌞 Then we finished off with our FIRST ice cream cone from Sargent Sundae!

Or 10,347 steps!

Back in the Saddle!

Catchup on CQA #52blocks52weeks project.  I've collected a number of 150th Canada fabrics plus some newer fabrics lately for my own Canadian quilt - and how appropriate that CQA is offering this project!  Now to wait for Tuesday for the next installment!  Thank you to those organizing this project and the well planned instructions to ensure such near perfect finished sizing!  Makes this project so much fun!

I've finally caught up and now to wait for Tuesday and the next installment!  Thank you to those organizing this project and the well planned instructions to ensure such near perfect finished sizings!  Makes this project so much more fun!  Well except for the diamond block which I had to fuss with because of my one piece centre!  And as yet not sure what layout I'll use except the blocks won't be in sequential order as I'm thinking of more balance of colour etc.

And today I finished off four 9 patch blocks to go with the other days 6 blocks for the Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project from My Carolina Home that my friend Susan is collecting and sewing up quilts for.  So Tuesday I'll get them into the mail too!  WOW!  Guess I'm feeling lots better if I'm getting back into my quilting saddle again.

MPQ Mini Retreat

Edna and I along with others are at MPQs first Mini Retreat today!  I'm sewing my CQA #52blocks52weeks and Edna is working her Red Hat Ladies Bag!  More pictures to follow! Dang it, I see I've sewn my block together wrong so it's rippit time already!

Irene Heilmann's mini hexis project.

And her awesome carrying case from Michaels $12 (not eligible for coupon discount), or from Staples $14.29 with a grey lid.

Another version by Shannon but twice the size of Irene's.

Edna's Red Hats Ladies tote bag so far.  She coloured in the 4 ladies and I shared my red hat fabrics for the outside and a third for the inside.  Lovely!

First Day of Spring Couldn't Have Been Better!!!!

What a beautiful day for a walk! And soon off to Thermea for a girls relaxing day/evening!

We were checking out a grey bird way up there when I decided to take a picture - camera was still in selfie mode so I took it  - LOL!!!

That's Edna swinging her water bottle just in time!

We went about halfway along #7 till water forced us to turn around, so we did a little detour south on Moray to Ness and back home.

Or 9,434 steps.

Then early afternoon I headed to Thermea Spa for the rest of the day!  OMGG - I don't know if I can explain the pleasureable day I've had here!  Thank you Janice for organizing it and Cindy for making it too!  It was unbelievable from the ice cold water dips, the temperate and then hot tub pools to the various saunas that Janice guided me through to the heated beds relaxation rooms to the awesome no roof fireplace building with Adirondack chairs and blankets (here's where I first enjoyed a glass of wine and later relaxation tea) to the lounge where we enjoyed some food/wine and shared a fruit plate!  Yeppers it was AWESOME!!!!!  Especially when that huge MOON showed itself above the buildings!  I wanted to stay longer but after 7 hours I was drained and my legs barely carried me to the car!  YEAH what an awesome day from start to end!

Now finishing off watching hockey, Winnipeg Jets playing the Anaheim Ducks!  Hope I can stay awake to the end!

An Interesting Day!

I started the day tatting more dragonflies, hopefully for sale at month ends Lace Retreat.

Early afternoon I  picked up Edna and off to Sturgeon Road and Silver Ave to start at the west end of the Yellow Ribbon Trail today.  We love this easy to walk on pathway!

Close up of our walk.
The #3 is where it blew in.

West of Sturgeon Road on Silver Ave all blown in and up n down to walk on to Hamilton.
The other way was good.

It's been 2 weeks and I need my coffee!!!!  So glad Edna suggested Joe Black's Coffee Bar!

I forgot to say my half plain.

Awesome decor!

And afterwards Edna showed me this fun image she coloured in depicting the four quilting ladies she's part of!  It's going to be a canvas tote when finished!

OK I've heard a few friends complain about mildew build up in their washing machines, hope this helps!  Now to see if it's in stores as I'm not keen shopping online period!

Washing Machine Mildew

Edna wanted these pin ends her friend has so I checked Oma's and Fabricland - no luck - so I searched online and found these!  There is no way I'm paying this ridiculous price when a mechanical pencil eraser will work!  So out of one package I got at Staples I get 26 - 3/8" pieces for $1.99 plus taxes.  It works great so far!  So 2 packages will give me 52 pieces for $4.50 compared to 100 pieces for $33.95 US plus taxes!  So even if they crumble and break, lots cheaper to replace long term before costs meet that outrageous price.

13 - 3/8" pieces from one stick!
