OK that's it for today, I'm tired out from all the thinking! But I'm mighty pleased with my latest dragonfly! I've been altering the pattern just about evey try and think I like this teal one the best. Can you imagine it with oval shaped crystals or beads in the body! Can't wait to search my stash and embellish this baby!

Staying Inside Today!
While waiting to hear if my friend Angela needed help today I unbraided my bobbin lace mistakes from yesterday. So I read up on braiding the ends the correct way and just finished it off. Now to wait for all to set and then remove the pins. Then onto a new project!
Ohhhhh and time is running out and still lots to do around here to get ready!

January 29th Catchup
Jan 29th
Despite the frigid -40sC temperature, down to -50sC with windchills, I still ventured out! Guess another saying not to be bandied around like "I'll never do that"!!!!!! 🤣😜🤯
Thank you Barb P for the lovely lunch, home visit and the loan of your Jennoop quilt suspension unit. I'll try it out and let you know how it works for me. Much appreciated and thank you. Hope you have a wonderful escape from this cold spell and looking forward to another visit on a warmer day. 🤗
While driving my tire pressure light came on so stopped into Urban Garage to check and make my oil change appointment. It was confirmed the cold will lower pressure enough to trigger the sensor and might be OK, they'll check. Also when mentioned I need an appointment they said they'd do it now! WOW!!! This place has awesome efficient staff and both waiting room and shop are well maintained and clean!
This was on my Canadian Quilters FB and had to share with friends n family!
Well I think I've the Split Rings technique in my head as I didn't have to refresh before starting Riet's Dragonfly - alternative method of working! Also I've taken liberties here!

WELL I'm not sure what I expected but honestly it was better than that! I was out driving and yes I let my baby warm up first. Then headed for my hair cut bringing Adele a steeped tea, then a bit of needed shopping before a just because stop at Tim's again, this time for Barb B at work before heading home. Again thank you Adele for the awesome styling and at least my hair is ready for Cuba even if I'm not! I LOVE my curls!!! Plus was dressed appropriately!!!
OMGG if I saw this while travelling I'd probably cause a traffic incident to get my pictures!!!!
https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2019/01/lace-murals-nespoon/
Then I prepped my pictures for the Northern Lights Lacemakers monthly newsletter!
PHEW!!!! I didn't think I'd finish off this bobbin lace practice piece worked on last October 2017! But after rereading the lesson preparation and a number of false starts I finally got the hang of it and completed sections d, e and braiding off - that is except for the extra pair, I'm lost and too tired to figure that out! Now to let the lace set a spell before removing the pins etc. I also fixed my new travel pillow's insert that seemed uneven and ready to sew pillow n working covers and matching bobbin carrier. Then I'll be ready to start the next lesson, but not till I've my personal teachers nearby to help me over the stumbling blocks!!!
Good night!

A Wonderful Day!
AWESOME DAY! That is except for the 7am start! I had breakfast at Altos at Club Regent with Sylvia n Len and Florence n Roy, in with their seniors group!
Then I dropped off my purged items at Aunt Monica's Attic and boy did I make her day! Even to the point of immediately knowing what she was going to sew from specific fabrics and laces for children's one of a kind costumes! One fabric she really liked and might keep for herself! Great, I helped her out and she helped me out too.
The afternoon, even in that crazy wind snowstorm like conditions, was my Northern Lights Lacemakers gathering and thanks to Jacqui's insistence I think my bobbins might be wound properly and thread stash saved in the end! 😘
Afterwards I drove to Angela's for an awesome pork tenderloin with applesauce, scallop potatoes, baked carrots, steamed n fried green beans supper - she spoils me! This was followed by various curling games on TV followed by apple crisp n ice cream and coffee, ending with a recorded curling game before heading home. Oh and a tin of her homemade yummy cookies! Thank you Angela! 😘
It was weird the weather! First was frigid stormy conditions most of the day but late evening it was calm and a nice winter night while cleaning off most of the snow on my car. The drive back was OK but you could see ice everywhere! My baby had no issues but many (CRVs too) were swerving and sliding in front of me from the perimeter to city centre and I was doing 50! Guess some people don't know how to drive for the conditions!

Purging Again!
OMGG I'm pooped out as I've spent the last 3 hours purging again - started with fancy fabrics and laces that I could easily get to for my friend to make and sell bags, birthday party costumes etc. Also resorted my tatting cottons and combined 3 boxes into two and gave some away too and two containers! Then I gathered up my scattered books back into the one box - one day I'll sort and keep those I want to read, the rest return to my friend's library. But no energy tonight! 😵👍🤗

Extreme Cold Weather!
Jan. 21st
Well this was the first time since my teen years that I've gone out to see an eclipse! And it will probably be my last as I was disappointed with all the hype compared to the real thing. I still say that it was neato to witness but not worth getting chilled over! Only the last picture is worth saving in my opinion but then I didn't have a high tec camera either. I didn't upload the beginnings.
Jan 22nd
OMGG I've just called Yvonne in Mississauga and she asked when I was coming to visit. I said hopefully in October and she suggested the first part is best for them! GREAT!!! So maybe I can fit in the Fringe Tatters Tat Days in Cambridge planned for Sept 27th-29th and maybe visit some tatting and quilting friends in around there?
Jan 23rd
Ohhh she has the words that kept me reading to the very end, even if I wasn't Winterpeg born, but close enough a Manitoban!
And then a friend sends me this!

Dang we are definitely into WINTER!!! Dress for the conditions, if you can! Be careful working outside! Needless to say Edna and I have been walking inside the Outlet Mall!
And this is what Holguin, Cuba will be nwxt week!

Lovely weekend!
Well Friday after our lunch I put away all the visible Christmas ornaments in the special boxes I bought 3 years ago! Next week I'll find a box or tub and remove the larger Christmas decor too. Then also next week I'll have to sort my summer clothes, wash em and decide what to pack etc. I've been getting other stuff together too and dropped off my goodies for the Cubans to Iona and she's very happy and her pile is huge! And in between I've been crocheting bobbin holders for myself and maybe for friends. Now feet up relaxing with the crew - Jake is hiding!
Hmmmm different ideas on how each relaxes I guess!
Yes Taunya here is one I thought Zero was rolling back scratching but not so I quickly picked up the camera for a pic. He stayed like that for a bit! Definitly mimicking Griffin and Wheeler posted earlier! Weird I've two sets so similar!
First off thank you Valerie Wilson for the lovely green hand dyes I ordered for my project. Now to find the time to start this wall hanging. Last year I watched my sister put together the kit she had bought! I could not resist to make one in my favourite colour!
I know it was crazy but I thought these guys needed some outdoors horsing around yesterday. WELL only if either Wheeler or I galvanized Griffin into the game otherwise he sat on his butt waiting for me to head indoors. Silly dog! Sillier me for playing chase till I felt my knee then after some 20 minutes of fun and games we came inside and Jake joined us.
I was outside again today with the dogs for 20 minutes and actually playing chase was nice in the sun. Today Griffin was very playful to the point of trying to jump on me! So I thought what's Holguin CUBA like compared to Winnipeg CANADA!
This face is deceiving - he's been bad again.

I'm in the opposite end of the yard and glad it's snow so I don't have to tread so carefully!
I love this shot!
They still have some pep in them, but I'm pooped!

Busy Day
Started off with our 2018 Christmas lunch at 529 Wellington, better late than never! My salad was very delicious but shrimps were pricey but it was special so had them. Edna liked her onion soup and the sweet potato fries were the best we've had so far anywhere, not oily, burnt or mushy at all! Very relaxing atmosphere too!

Look at the size of that huge bottle next to the normal ones!
