Dog Happenings!

Sheesh Katsu is more and more excited upon my return from being out, jumping up at me even scratched me and not listening to my "down" while opening the door.  To jumping back up the stairs to get his toys for me to play with him etc.  To today letting the excited guy out till I got my brace on and all the walking stuff tog then headed out to leash him before exiting the gates.

My mistake of having the leash over my arm as we went BUT his excitement was way over the top and he yanked forwards and some how my hand got smacked by the gate even unhinging my watch bracelet!  That stung!  Then to add insult to injury he practically RAN up the street and around the corner before slowing down a bit.  Not much!  SHEESH!

We did a good 2.6 km walk - after my 8.6 km Pathfinders walk this mirning - on the way back he barely walked, more dilly dallying with crawling speed.  So I thought yeah I've tired him out!  HUH jokes on me.  ☺  Once inside he ate and drank and then RACED around the house with his toy for a good 15 minutes - I just sat in the armchair with my feet up as I didn't know which direction was next.  Then he zonked out but not for long before he jumps up to join me!

He's so funny and wearing me out.  ðŸ˜ª  I sleep good nightly.   Good thing I'm staying put tomorrow or who knows what he'd have in store then.

Tatted Snowflakes

Well I realized I'm remiss in posting a few finished snowflakes recently and the last one I just tatted tonight.   I'm glad I've found my rhythm back again.  Hopefully I'll have an assortment for the upcoming sales etc.

This is a second one with problems resolved with reading the pattern.

One from an antique pattern book with hard to understand steps.  Largest so far.

A pretty one and smallest so far.

This one was easier.

Tonight's and it too is pretty.

UFO's Completed

Here's two UFO's completed today too.

Set of 4 in coasters.
Hot matts with silver heat resistant backing.

Sewing Frenzy

I must say these past two weeks has been quite productive getting a number of "mug rugs" completed for the Sept 30th Christmas Craft sale in Dryden sharing tables with my sister Sylvia.  Any left over will be available for the sale table at our lace retreat mid-Oct and again the vendors sale at the MPQ November meeting.  Depending on what goes, I still have supplies to make more of these up.  Now maybe onto some hot mats and pot holders and sets of coasters.

Oriental 6 in squares
Coffee signs 5 in circles
Dresden Plate 6 in.
Sunflowers 6 x 8 in.
Poinsettias 6 x 8 in.
Ornaments 6 x 8 in.

Relaxing - AWESOME!

Well I've seen Sylvia and Len off after breakfast at McDs and picked up their TV Stand and NOW relaxing in the lovely sunroof watching the Olympics.   OH and I'm back to tatting and maybe venture into the sewing room today too as I've a few crafty ideas going through my head!

Farewell Dale Anne!

The fibre art and scrapbooking world for sure has lost an awesome creative friend recently.  Dale Anne Potter you were a great inspiration to me in my quilting endeavors especially to forcing out my creative side.  She always challenged me to think outside the box and was pleased when I succeeded!   Our visits were few and far between but cyber world kept us connected.   She was the person who jump started me in achieving one of my dreams - a quilting and sightseeing tour to the southern part of Ireland.  It just was a tease and now I want to go back to realize that dream totally!  The next trip West I promise to make a side trip to the petroglyph area of southern Saskatchewan, a place Dale Anne felt spiritually connected to and a trip we talked about doing together, but unfortunately will not happen now!   I'm going to miss you lots lovely lady!  Hugs to all her family!

Back at Tatting Again

While watching the Olympics I tatted this snowflake and probably more to come.  This is "Tatted Snowflake" by Darlene Polachic of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan found in March/April/96 Crafting Traditions.

Yes I'm very thankful I've met and got to be friends with Dale Anne Potter (who passed away recently) and I pushed to finish off this challenging tatted snowflake today (at least for me) and will find a way to tag it "In memory of Dale Anne".  I have many seasonal ornaments out all year around so will hang this up too!

I will definitelybe tatting both these patterns again!  Lovely.

My CRV & Katsu

Well my first time taking an animal for a car ride!  See it's a little warm out but an awesome breeze out there so I wanted to take Katsu for a walk away from the sidewalks.  I drove down to Wellington Crescent where I walk the centre boulevard in and out of the protection of the huge trees.  I even took a dog bowl for water and Katsu drank twice from it.  He was well behaved and listened to my "heel" before crossing the road.  I think I pooped him out.  He stayed like that on the drive home and he's out sleeping again behind my chair.  ðŸ˜Š

Walking with Katsu!

Oh my I know I'm going to get LOADS of walking in this whole month! See Katsu is only 4 so still a puppy with tonnes of energetic activity in him and goes out for three walks a day at a good pace too. The morning and evening walks are usually longer as its cooler but as yet I've not gotten a full reading on my S4 yet, but my guess is close to my set goal of 6.5 km daily.

WELL after his morning walk I picked up Edna and we joined Prairie Pathfinders at Crescent Park walked around to Wildewood Park and back for a total of 6.94 km at 5.1 km/hr in lovely breezy weather. So definitely will be well over my target today!

Not sure what will happen this evening as we're supposed to have a thunderstorm happening. It never fails when dog sitting here! And Katsu does not like them either!!!

Leaving Lake of the Woods

Ahhh shoot our stay here is over already!  We again had lovely homemade blueberry pancakes wife fresh berries fruit dishes and yogurt if you wanted.  Afterwards Jan and I went down to the dock but decided it was too chilly to swim so took some final pictures before heading out.  On this "country" road we came across a deer right in front of us and also a bald eagle in a tree at the edge.  WOW!  We then stopped at the Brewers Inn, Broken Paddle for coffee and to check out their B&B units.  Lovely too!  Then back into Kenora as Jan wanted to check out the Brewery and buy a jug of Sultana beer.  Again a lovely place too!  Back on the road stopping at Falcon Lake for lunch but it was downright chilly near the beach so back to the shopping mall and found a nice protected picnic table and ate there.  Then off to the horse ranch and to treck the Canadian Shield at Falcon Creek.  I swear Jan was determined to break me into her down to earth hiking ways all in one trip!!!  This was close to the torture of the Rushing River trail but I survived even with a number of root or rock stumbles and some slick wet stones.  We just finished that walk and back onto the highway when it started to rain on and off with some strong winds and angry clouds!  Glad to be back home now!!!
We had a Minnesota couple joining us for breakfast.

Neighbour's that own Dunn Wright Chicken from Winnipeg.   We swam over there and all I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!!
Lower half of stairs to B&B.
Upper level of stairs.   Lots!!!
The there neighbour's home with attached deck to B&Bs.
He just sat there for us!
This is at the Broken Paddle in Keewatin -  artist had burnt the wood for the decor - awesome.

Falcon Creek trail.  This rock created the split in the trail.
Awesome terrain I had to walk over.

Day in Kenora ON

After the awesome day we had a bite of leftover pizza and headed back into Kenora for the evening cruise around the island but no sunset because of the clouds!  It was mighty tricky heading back here in the dark but we made it safely.  I even joined Jan out on the deck and watched some of the lightening before it got closer and the boomers could be heard.  Then back up to our room just in time as it started to pour and storm shortly after that.

Mural on a shop wall.
Sun diamonds as Jan calls this.
So many islands.
More trees!
How'd I do this?
This was the longest bridge on the Trans Canada
until PEI built there's.
Some of the many mansions found on these private islands.

And I have many more!  This I'll be thread painting!

We even saw Bald Eagles and loons too!
Just about back to Kenora.
This is neat.

Fun and Relaxation!

Ohhh what a lovely day!  Sunny and fairly hot but yet nice.  I swear this Janice Palmer is trying to beat me into shape.  I ache from head to toe but still having a great time - haven't swam this much in years!

View from the owner's deck.
Our first breakfast plus watermelon, strawberries and OJ.
At Kenora's Harbour front.
Vernon Trail but we did the two easier walks.
Now entering the wetlands.

I have a fascination for jack pines etc for thread painting.

We're entering the Indian Reserve and driving the outskirts to the private cottages and our B&B.
Maddie and I in the shade - she loved to swim with us.
Maddie and Janice in the sun.
