Okay, my first road trip in winter conditions! Yes we checked apps and TV and decided Winnipeg was the worst so Grand Forks bound we were! Left Wpg 10:30ish and got to Morris like 2 hours later, hungry and BR break needed!
Oh yeah! Well I'm proud of myself! We left Wpg 10:30, stopped at Morris for a quick lunch before heading to Grand Forks for a quilt show! Took about 5.5 hours with majority of MB at 30 km/ hr, half on the shoulder. No cars in the ditch but one semi jacknifed halfway to Morris and then near Morris we had to detour on side roads 1 km to get past semi in the ditch and another jacknifed blocking the whole road. But gosh once we crossed the border the roads were WOW WOW WOW - amazingly clear!!! We did wonderful easy winter driving from there to GF! Supper at Red Lobster was delicious!!!
Now we were all kinda disappointed with Hobby Lobby and Joann's and totally disgusted with TJMaxx and Target! Didn't have time for Menards - next time maybe. Tomorrow is the quilt show then heading back! Hopefully Manitoba roads will be lots better!

We're back in Wpg all home now, safe and sound, pleased we went but tired.
We had a lovely day checking out the North Star Quilters Quilt Show and some quilt store shopping there too. Then lunch at Ground Round, YUMMY, and a quick stop at Kohl's, WOW love that store!!!
The official who checked us at the border suggested we go through Emerson, then Hwys 200 and 201 east towards Stuartburn which both were ice covered, slow and easy, then onto Hwy 59 which was totally dry and clear to Wpg. Honestly I don't know what the crap is wrong with Hwy 75 when you cross that magic border line and then highway 29 is dry and totally clear???

And here are my treasures bought in Grand Forks, amounting just below my allotted $150 US cash I took with me. All items were either 30% and most 50% off and starting prices lower than our Cdn prices. Food was mine and hotel n gas were shared on my CC.
Someone wondered about this method! Hope this helps.

Another busy day and also another snow warning for us too! Started off with a visit to Sylvia's and a change of her door hanger.
Then FINALLY visited the Lien's in their Retirement Residence and Katsu who is aging but still with spurts of puppy energy! I'm glad I've stopped in for a visit and hopefully do so soon again.
Afterwards I headed back downtown to pick up Edna and stopped at Olive Garden for soup, salad and bread sticks supper then off grocery shopping. By then it was gusting and icy patches were showing up. Glad I took us shopping so both of us can stay put tomorrow!!!
Once home I'm relaxing on the recliner and notice this bruised toe nail.
It didn't hurt to walk but the inside shoes I wore at the retreat was bugging this toe lots. HMMM!!!! Now what to do? If I press on it it hurts, so if worse tomorrow, I'll get it checked out this week.
