Catchup - Feb 20th-29th

Feb 20th

Dang, after lunch Edna and I went for a walk in the Outlet Mall as neither was dressed for the cool wind. Needless to say my hip is still bothering me after those two slips on ice couple weeks ago. It's not hindering my morning exercises but definitely walking. Hmmm I hope the walking sticks will help for next week's nature walk! Will see!

Feb 22nd

Hmmmm might try this but first will ensure the hole is smooth, maybe glue rubber band inside.

Today I met Nancy and together we went to Cibo's for supper. It's been at least 4 years since I was last here. Now both of us ordered appetizers instead of main dishes and that was lots! Delicious too! We ended the meal with a cappuccino for Nancy and a chai latte for myself. We might meet up again before she returns to Mississauga.

Feb 23rd

Well I'm over visiting the Crew and after a few restless shenanigans they are snoozing together. I'm achy from coming and going and maybe the cooler temps, but hopefully will feel better for my Birds Hill walk next week.

Dang, dang, dang!!! It's that time of the year with hockey, curling and now spring season baseball!!!! Guess the PVR will be busy!!!

Feb 24th

Taking a break from my quilt blocks sewing to have supper with Pinot Grigio and watching some Jets hockey!

GO JETS GO!!!

Feb 25th

Well I'm glad it was not a huge dump that's for sure!!! The first outing was over the snow which Lexi hated and was quick to be back inside! But my morning was busy clearing off the deck with many supervisors and uncooperative Wheels who waited till the shovel was close to him!!! 😄 Sam was next I and the Bernese till the end of my chore.

But hmmmm these dumps obliterate the road so glad I'm not going anywhere till Thursday.

I was a bit worn out and 8am breaky worn off so a 10ish coffee and one slice toast, PB and jam to calm the fatigue! 😉

Feb 25th

Here's what 2 days of sewng has produced, 24.5" square so far. I started with the MPQ Sew-in day but had to leave as my hip pain was bad and had to relax instead. Now those tiny 3/4" finished HSTs were sewn together earlier on from cut off triangles of previous projects, I just incorporated them into my own design for another NICU top. I still have to figure out borders, tomorrow's project maybe.

Well this definitely relates to my quilting! But I'm working on my a few UFOs in quilting and lately adding in my Sashiko kits (tonnes fewer than quilting)! Soon will have to decide on maybe trying to sell some projects as kits or completed items, but that's not yet!

Feb 27th

Dang I sure hope I've more of the older white tiny leaves on white sashing fabric somewhere in my stash! As you can see I only need six pieces 1.25x5.75", so close but NOT!!! Then it's whatever borders I decide on to make the 36 or 40 inch square NICU coverlet.

HMMMM should that 1.25" white square be yellow? This is my own design and wondering if I've screwed up?

Feb 28th

Well today is much nicer and the Crew wven stayed out longer, well except Lexi. They all love eating the fresh fluffy snow!!! Even friskier inside!!!

NOW my fun begins! Yes today I'm going to remove papers then try and find my ideal placement for my 52 blocks, 52 weeks Triangles project! Stay tuned for the possible quilt top!!

After a few blocks I remembered the spritzing and so much easier removing the papers! Thanks Pearl Braun-Dyck for that tip.

It's warming up some and I'm so thankful the neighbour cleared out the snowdrift infront of my car for tomorrow, while I cleared the steps. The Crew was out playing in the snow too. It looks beautiful with the sun shining!

Here's the huge doggie back yard from the bedroom window plus the right side not visible which is about two bedrooms wide and twice that to the fence, lots of space for them to enjoy.

Aaahhhhh be still my beating heart!!!

Yes Blue Jays are back!!!

Guess I'll take a break from my blocks.

Hmmmm this layout was tougher than I thought it would be AND I'm ONE block short!!!! I'll start sewing up the rows anyway after another look at it over the weekend. Then I have to decide which block I want to duplicate OR design my own?????? I really want to finish this baby so it can go get quilted!!! YOWSERS!!!

??? Or I remove one short row from the left side and build onto the top longer row, then I'll need THREE blocks to complete! UGH!!!

This was changed to #2

This was changed to #3

Feb 29th - Happy Leap Year

Not having a good day hip wise, weather or what the cause?  I was to join Janice and Cindy for a walk in Birds Hill and lunch at Pineridge Hollow but it was snowing more than here in Pinawa so glad it was cancelled.  Then as the day continued, the power went out very briefly and all restarted.

So I continued with removing the one-way zipper on my newer spring/fall jacket replacing it with a two-way zipper.  Let me tell you, next time I'm only buying jackets with two-way zippers!!!!  That was just too painfull a task!  But once washed and scotch guarded again it'll be ready for spring!!!

Watching baseball and kinda wishing I was in Florida!!!

Well I rearranged the 9th row into a vertical column on top, but after some calculating I still need a 9th row. So that's TEN more blocks needed. So I'll go through the 53 in the file and pick 10 and make some adjustments for the new blocks. Who knows I'll maybe redo this again before satisfied.

Catchup - Feb 11th-17th

Feb 11th

Hmmmm hope I'm free to check it out!!! I love quilt shows!

Feb 12th

Dang what next!!!

So I forgot to post our puzzle visit yesterday. We finished off that eagles puzzles Sylvia had bought at the Mission Thrift Store for $3, faster going than the crazy quilt one of mine! She'd chosen Kristen's loaned puzzle to do next. But last night Anita dropped one off, but wants it back, so Sylvia started it last night!

Today I sorted out a few mismatched "opposites" ACQ mystery blocks plus stitched up #11 and #12 for February. So now they are all noted on printouts and in my gallery. Hopefully the next set will go smoothly! I'm sure it's soon nearing completion and assembly process.

Feb 13th

Well I again went over to Sylvia's to set some puzzle, which we finished it too! Then started to sort out the pieces for the Aurora Borelis. She had made mushroom rice and chicken casserole, which I like, so invited me for supper, even some leftovers for another time. Then we decided to set the tents pieces before I went home! Lots of same colours with slight shade changes and smaller pieces sizes. 💞

Feb 14th

OHHHH MYYYY it's been a gazillion years I've been out for supper! Thank you Kristen and Sylvia for arranging this evening. Hope it's an awesome meal and bubbly company. And free dessert, 2 plates for 5 of us!!!
Well definitely a Galentines Day supper!!! I honestly had not heard this before!!!

Feb 15th

OMGG!!! This is a first that I've forgotten to post about receiving a fabric postcard from my swap, I was not up to par then. Annette I'm totally SORRY for not acknowledging on January 22nd that your lovely Paris in Springtime postcard had arrived, reminded me of my July visit. I love your rendition of the Tower and the blossoms. The variegated satin stitch added to the spring theme. Thank you so much.

What an awesome idea for a personal I Spy book too! ❤️❤️❤️

Well here's the confirmation off ZOOM that the two quilts from you Barb, Kim and Dianne were donated to MPQ ABC. Loveliest of those donated.

Feb 17th

So I made it to another Aurora Quilters meeting and here's the start of my project today. When it grows up it'll be another NICU coverlet.

And Pat enjoy ribbing me about such small squares, even 2 seconds for one block rippit!!! 😉

Catchup. - Jan 25th-Feb 10th

Jan 25th

Thank you Adele for once again sprucing me up and switching my part on me again. I love this option!!!

My next Sashiko project! Relaxing my hip, feet up, with hockey and handwork.

Jan 27th

Finally I've found a lighter weight jacket with a hood AND a two way zipper, for ease of sitting!!! Now to try it out tomorrow on my girls' walk tomorrow!!! Got it from Excell Clothing on St. Anne's (leftovers supposedly from Costco but marked down. My tag said $79.99 and got it for $56 @ 30% off, $62.72 with taxes! AWESOME!!!

Jan 29th

A Learning Experience!!! Thank you Edna!!!

Edna showed Sylvia and she took over!

I stirred the cooking of the prunes and the assembly.

Looks yummy!!!

Yummy!

Oooohhhhhh how I miss this look from 2019, BUT not the time to style or weight on my head!!!

Jan 30th

Talk about yummy Greek food at Taverna Rodos Restaurant and Lounge and nice ambiance to carry on a conversation! Thank you Aruna!!!

Jan 31st

Good morning! A beautiful start to my day at 8am.

Feb 3rd

Well the blocks were finished a while ago, I've plans for the layout and borders so hopefully I'll get to it shortly!!! This one will be mine and quilted my Night Owl Quilting & Dye Works.

Feb 4th

So it was another private retreat at Sylvia's but this time Edna was not up to par so stayed home. We had homestyle mushroom barley soup and tea biscuits for lunch. Supper was Mongolian Beef frozen package and fresh stir fried veggies with brownies and yogurt for dessert.

So my project was raw edged applique of Hearts Entwined placemat enlarged for a table centre by Nancy Halverson in her Love is Art to Heart booklet.  Sylvia reduced blocks and runner size of the Heart of the Home pattern by Jackie Robinson in 2024 McCall's Quilting to 5.25" squares and Pat kept to the 8" squares for her runner. All are awesome.

Talk about thread chicken
race, just finished all the machine applique.

My top finished.

Sylvia's top finished.

Pat's in progress.

Concentrating!!!

Pat's top finished!

My baby finished except for the quilting!

Interesting!!!

Feb 5th

So here is my quilted heart table topper and mug rugs from the cut outs.
WOW!!! I just realized this is probably a FIRST for me (at least I'm assuming this) but a total of 3 days from finding fabrics to finished quilting for a new project!!!

Feb 6th

Okay I had sewn together the cut off HSTs from various 2020 projects and designed this top for my second MPQ ABC NICU coverlet back in Sept 2023. I finally sandwiched the two layers, flannel backed, and quilted with light mauve Glide thread today.

The apple core coverlet was completed Jan 15/2024 but today the label was attached.

Finally another UFO completed, hope next I can quilt one of the sandwiched quilts sitting around!!!

Feb 7th

Now that I've finished off a small UFO yesterday, I'm going to play some with a new Sashiko sampler I picked up from Keystone Modern Creative the other day! I had wanted this for awhile but various online places were charging high shipping plus some duty too! Nope not gonna do it! Then I dropped by the shop and VOILA it was there!!!

Guess that'll be my first stop next time. There's another one I want, maybe it'll show up there too!

Feb 8th

Here is Sylvia's quilted table runner from Sunday's sewing. I just love it!

Feb 9th

Today was a quiet day. I slept in but did my exercises before heading over to Sylvia's. I picked up her two ABC donation quilts she was guiding her friend into quilting and also worthwhile donations too!

She was happy that she had tackled this difficult puzzle herself and when I arrived we both finished the demon off!!! It took us about a month off and on to complete this one. I was going to glue it onto a board but then decided not to, I'll frame the print instead for my sewing room!

Now I'm home, packed up my machine etc for ACQ sewing day tomorrow and cutting out the latest two mystery block pieces. Then feet up!

Yeppers!!!

Feb 10th

Dang it!!!!! I was not feeling myself last night BUT thought I was cutting my HSTs right for today's ACQ sewing day! NADA!!! I cut the smaller HSTs 2" strips instead of 2.5" and didn't bring my fabrics so can't sew up blocks 11 and 12 as planned. Lucky I brought my HSTs cut off to sew up smaller ones! At least I can keep sewing! Some day I'll have another NICU coverlet or maybe a wall hanging for myself!
