Catchup - May 22nd-24th

May 22nd

Thank you Angie for the fresh asparagus. Today I steamed it with veggie spices and garlic powder in the mic - mucho better than baking it the other day! Edna had her's with pickeral cheeks and she said yummy too!!!

Hmmm not sure I made the right choice for new frames, but I wanted casual but interesting. I know I have to go back to get refitted as looking at the ground is a bit blurry or like going uphill. But really lots better for the TV and Closeup too.

May 24th

WHAT??????????
I think I'll deal with getting rained on!!!!!

OMGG this is ridiculous!!!!

Catchup - May 16th-21st

May 16th

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!
I don't think I've personally driven in such a heavy and steady downpour as today 4:30ish AND it even tried to hail but thankfully tiny pellets and short lived!!! It was a bit white knuckling driving out of dntn but nearing Archibald and Mission towards Transcona areas it totally eased up. The sky behind me though was very dark and threatening. Now out with the Crew it's north side sun breaking through scattered clouds, south side is dark stormy like. Weird EH!!!

Dang it's so peaceful out on this deck enjoying my coffee. I should have had my breakfast out here! Later on I'll relax out by the pit with the Crew!

Taking a break after cutting out the last two blocks for the ACQ mystery to have lunch outdoors. Crispy mini peppers!!! But Wheels and I are in the shade, the others???? I'm sure Griffin is in the shade of a tree or he'd be here too!

Well I've finally sewn up the last two blocks for the ACQ mystery. There are 8 sets of blocks in two versions of similar fabrics. And tomorrow I'll will play with the layout and start sewing up the sashing and hopefully finish borders???

May 18th

OMGG!!! Well I cut the sashings and started sewing it together. I should have stopped sewing sooner. Things were going so well until I noticed the centre column was not lining up. So "rippit" in action and finally fixed one join but then the Oilers n Canucks hockey game started so I quit for today. Got my chefs salad ready, glass of wine and now relaxing with my feet up. That is till the power flicked off but came back on sooner than later BUT the TV took its sweet time and I missed the Oilers goal.

What a beautiful morning!!! Definitely a "Rose Anne" type of summer day! Lovely breezes, birds singing, no bugs, and definitely no HEAT! I hate hot +27C and no breezes days!!!
We're all enjoying it, even if I've lots of sewing to do. Enjoyed breakfast and now my coffee in my travel mug so I can extend my stay out!!!

I'm happy I've the inside border sewn on and centre vertical just about perfect. Now I'm going to see if I've enough of the dusty rose for a 2" inner border before ending with the 3" pink.

Yeah the second border was possible with some creative planning as I only had a 33x37" piece left over! Now to figure out the last border.

I'm leaning to the solid blue but the pink with creative dusty rose inserts brings out the blocks! They are the focus so not sure but hate finishing solid pink.

That was the problem working on this quilt, I hate the pink background, but other Konas just did nothing for the group of fabrics. Oh well it's just about done!!!
Not sure about binding as I'm donating the top to MCC with left over pink and blue fabrics.

May 19th

My yummy supper, sweet n sour pork on fried rice and asparagus from Angie's garden! 😋

Hey it's as finished as it'll be! My ACQ mystery block top is complete and ahead of time for reveal.

As noted I'll be donating the top and pink and navy blue left over fabrics to MCC and I'm going to suggest to bind in the navy blue fabric.
Tomorrow I'll plan out my Scrappy Triangles an start to sew them together!

OHHHHH SHOOT!!!! I should have checked earlier, "check twice before you cut" is the rule that I didn't follow! See these extra 10 Scrappy Triangles were trimmed to 6.25" instead of 6.5" - DAMN!!!

Well at least I still have the batik scraps, green fabric and patterns to redo these blocks, not going to trim down the 51 I've ready at 6.5", no way!!!

A food wise use for a wine bottle cork opener!

May 21st

Dang it!!! Those miserable mosquitoes are hatching and I got my first bite today! It was so nice outside this past week! So it's never mind suggestions of natural repellents (I've tried many and they aren't effective enough for me - one summer of near hospitalization from my allergic reaction was enough for me) and sticking to my Dr's orders to use the strongest Deet spray I can stand OR don't go outside!!! I hardly went out last year compared to years ago, except for windy or cool days!!! This is a few bites from a couple years ago, nothing like that Ontario vacation that I was bitten even through my clothes, not a pretty site for a few weeks till antihistamines took effect. Was more groggy from that than ever using Deet!!!

Okay yesterday I redid those too small ten extra Scrappy Triangles blocks and played with the layout until I think it's OK. There's so many colours and patterns that I'm sure it does not matter. It's my baby and I'm pleased with this so I'll start sewing up the blocks!

Catchup - May 14th-15th

May 14th

Hmmmm should have kept the envelope of ??? office keys my desk kept inheriting.

May 15th

Talk about a BUSY day!!! I left home 9:45am and didn't get home till 10pm!!! Started out with a Chiro appointment Island Lakes area, then out to Oak Bluff to pick up a forgotten item from the pugs home, then Costco to order my new glasses and Tim's for lunch. Then back to Island Lakes for my hair appointment before picking up Sylvia to join Florence n Roy at Club Regent from Dryden ON. Yes we played some, enjoyed supper together, played some more, and ended with coffee at McDs before cashing in and heading home!

Well I came with $60 cash and was thinking thats all I'll play. On my first $20 I cashed out with $99+ but the other $20 I cashed out with $0.55 and the last $20 was zippo. BUT the worst is the last picture showing the fishbowls all cracked but not shattering AND I was not leaving that to someone else to benefit. So got someone to watch my machine, got cash and played till they burst and I cashed out on $100+ and as I exited the chair on the left, someone sat down from the right, they were watching me. So I brought home a total of $194.20 out of $160 put in! Not bad at all for 3 hours entertainment!!! So the $100 is going back into the bank, the $30 into my Casino wallet for another time and the change into my wallet!

A bit more copper this time!
Hope it goes OK with my new frames.

I LOVE the Gold Fish games!!!

Basically my first two big wins on my first $20.

This was after $40 was gone and I hit the bank machine to continue playing!!!
Bad I know!!!  But see those fish bowls nearly shattering!!!

Two burst and this after a few other smaller wins to reach $100+ before I stopped!
The yellow never did burst for me!

Catchup - May 9th-13th

May 9th

Enjoying this beautiful day outdoors stitching the binding on the Minnie Mouse placemats while visiting with the dogs! I tried to take a chair to the front steps but too heavy for me. So finally the sun moved behind the porch on the back deck. But THEY stay in the sun!

Today was an awesome outdoor relaxation. Well here are the two placemats taken at Saturday's retreat show n tell. And one, now two, that have their binding sewn down, only four more to go before finishing.

May 10th

What a beautiful time of is our spring, lovely warm and rained overnight - perfect, and very little pesky bugs as yet. Breakfast on the deck is awesome!!! The dogs checking out the wet yard scouting the perimeter!!! Listening to the birds and crickets during the lulls in the crazy traffic! Later this afternoon I'll visit Sylvia for her help in sewing in a proper zipper into Edna's pillow as the one I brought to retreat was too big and awkward.

Interesting, but not sure about the cost of oranges? Maybe those on clearance racks?

Relaxing after my visit to Sylvia's and getting Edna's pillow cover zipper sewn in, mucho better lighter weight zipper. I'm on the deck listening to a very sweet bird singing but can't spot the bird, plus crickets or frogs. I'm just about finished hand stitching the fifth placemat, one left in the bag while watching hockey on my phone as the TV keeps freezing every 10-20 minutes and has to be reset, no patience for that. Wonder if I'll get the sixth one stitched tonight or my fingers need a rest???
Move inside and warming up stitching the last one, watching hockey too.

OOOOOHHHHHH!!!! I knew I forgot something, my earplugs! These two are having a snoring contest and definitely not in sinc!!!! Louder than the hockey game!!! SHEESH!!! 🫨

A little bit spotted. 10:32pm Oak Bluff.

Some more night sky taken 10:45 to 11:15pm
I wanted to stay put on that country road but heard dogs barking and various cars coming and going, even though the action was increasing. And zippo from the house.

May 11th

This is not a good day for me! I wanted to go to two small city quilt shows but Bubba would not cooperate to stay gated inside. I've tried since 11am with treats, Taunya's door trick, teased him with giving Dahli treats (he was barking like crazy outside but wouldn't come in) and sat outside trying to coax him to me and maybe cart him inside, nothing worked. Well it's 3pm and all I have is flies inside but no Bubba, so closed the door, opened the doggie door and am on the couch crying, hope he comes in soon. I just saw a severe tstorm warning for Winnipeg, that's all I need!!! I HATE storms and for the first time doggie issues!!!

May 12th

YEAH!!!! Even though my fingers are sore with some deep needle holes, I've completed all my hand stitching! Yes the six placemat bindings and Edna's pillow piping has been stitched in place too! Hopefully next week I can deliver them! YEAH!!!

It's going to be a rough day for asthmatic individuals today as the wildfire smoke hangs around. I was out briefly with the dogs and decided no breakfast on the deck for me. Hope it improves soon and the fires controlled or put out!!!

Wishing all your Mom's a lovely day, spoil her well!!!

Well as far as I'm and my body is concerned this is another great use for a bicycle besides a planter yard decor. See my collage in comments.

Here's what I like!

Ohhh yummy!!!! Will have to try this!

Okay, I decided to finish my stitching and do some fine tuning on Edna's pillow from ACQs retreat weekend. It's lovely! So I searched the web and Edna chose her saying, I embroidered it, and she sewed up the front and back. Then the pillow with Sylvia's and some of my help.
I ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ it lots!!! Here's the front and back.

It's turning out to be a nice evening I hope. The smoke is lifting and easier breathing. Bubba was totally his usual self, note to myself NOT TO MESS WITH ROUTINE, and promptly allowed me to gate them before leaving for a couple hours. I had to see if his cuddling said he forgave me and would behave! YEAH!!!

May 13th

Yowsers, I remember barking but not this high pitch telling me it's supper time!!! Thank goodness no ones walking by here or they'd think torture was going on!!! 😆

Then afterwards, BOTH at the same time, are gnawing on their own chewies next to me!
