2017 TIAS - Day 8

I'm feeling perplexed and  just don't know what this 2017 TIAS is gonna be?  Today Day 8 - I was thinking a Volkswagen Bug but we have ONE bead to add in sometimes.  HMMM!

Feeling Restless!

I don't know why as I've enough WISPs on my plate but I'm anxious to see this new one on the go for my friend Linda Lefebvre Mullen who knows someone who is being tested for breast cancer.   I'll do up the embroidery (pattern found at http://www.craftsy.com/user/1146564/pattern-store  - FREE to download) on the centerpiece and Linda will add borders and quilt it before sending it on.

Feeling Concerned!

Lately I've been very light headed to the point that upon waking I sit on the side of the bed to let my head adjust before slowly walking.  The past month I've had occasional relapses midafternoons then it goes away.  Well since the fall and being diagnosed prediabetic, I've been checking my blood pressure and it's dropped to normal levels from constant highs so my Dr reduced my water pill and said probably at my mid-February appointment he'll probably remove that and also adjust my BP meds too.

We'll this past month my BP readings are lower yet with mornings around mid90s/mid60s and friends are so concerned that I called Health Links yesterday - after gathering info the nurse said it was not emergency need but to contact my Dr ASAP for a sooner appointment than the 16th scheduled. So the soonest I can get is the 6th and on the list for a cancellation call in.  I'm sure my meds need adjusting with my continued walking and diet changes and slowly reducing weight.  It's all good overall!!!  ❤

2017 TIAS - Day 7

I've also caught up on Day 7 of the 2017 TIAS tatting mystery.  Again I'm still at a loss what this will be!   Some guesses are hot air balloon, turtle, fancy crinoline dress, teapot to name a few from my friends.

2017 - 1 Year of Stitches - Week #4

OK I've caught up on last week's 2017 - 1 Year of Stitches both the Annual Panel and the Rose Table Topper.   Last week's squares were filled with:  Rosehips - Rosa sp. , Hydrangea - Hydrangea macrophylla  - Autumn, Gypsophila (Baby's Breath) - Gypsophila elegans, Polyanthus - Primula X polyanthus, Winter Iris - Iris stylosa, Nandina  (Dwarf) - 'Nana' Nandina domestica, and English Bluebells - Endymion nonscripta  (previously Scilla nonscripta).  And the last square has the Rose Table Topper with more satin stitch filler in petals.  Also the individual squares separately.

Feeling Relaxed!

With my feet bare and up after my walk.  This week Edna joined me for a walk around Assiniboine Park of 7 kms and then today we did Churchill Drive/Kingston Row of 6.8 kms and I did another 0.5 on downtown errands!!!  I need to walk 3 times a week for sure to maintain and keep active to keep my BP and BS levels average and hopefully this will also reduce my cholesterol and thyroid levels?  Will see mid-February after my next lab works.

Tonight I meet Griffin the new pup I'll be pet sitting soon along with Bella a large black lab and Murphy the cat plus a Beta fish - the Crew!!!!

TIAS - Day 6

It's getting warm in here again so windows open some and fan on too!  So slight headache forming but drinking lots of water to curb it while watching Chicago Blackhawks vs Winnipeg Jets hockey.

Well I can say this installment of TIAS - Day 6 went smoothly!  I'm still not sure what this could be.

Week 3 of 2017 Year of Stitches

I've finally caught up on my Week #3 of my 1 Year of Stitches: 2017 project.  But still 5 days behind - SHEESH!  That weekend quilt retreat really set me back but was worth it!  Oh and I've finally got the knack of photo collage done in minutes instead of my painstakingly slow way.

Week #3 squares of my Annual Panel were filled in with:
Jan 15th - Pencil Pine - Cupressus sempervirens
Jan 16th - Bee & Butterfly
Jan 17th - Passionflower - Passiflora caerulea
Jan 18th- Ornamental Grape - Vilis alicante - Autumn
Jan 19th - Grape Hyacinth - Muscari armeniacum
Jan 20th - Lamb's Ear - Stachys byzantina
Jan 21st - Solomon's Seal - Polygonatum multiflirum

On the Rose table topper I worked the leaves in fishbone stitch with DMC 936 and started filling in the lighter sections of the rose in satin stitch with DMC 725.

2017 TIAS - Days 3, 4 and 5

Grrrrrrr!!!  Not impressed that I messed up on Day 4 and had to restart from scratch so I could redo the tatting mystery Day 4 and get Day 5 caught up.  Now I'm not sure but if you flip it upwards it could be the start of a hot air bloom or as is a turtle?

Saturday, January 21, 2017

Well I did go out for a careful stroll on some kinda slippery wet streets in this awesome spring like weather!!!  So here's Sylvia working on her mystery project from Quilters Connection magazine and Pat working on their embroidered wedding block wall hanging using a flower panel she bought here from Jocelyn's shop.  I picked up a few notions on sale, hemmed up my two newly purchased pants - girls are happy I've pants that fit and finished my mini tuffet pin cushion - just need to paint legs white.  Next is my 2017 Year of Stitches to work on before tonight's prep work for the retreat bag for tomorrow's class and then back to my Canada blocks!!!

Gimli Retreat - Friday's Update

OK here's what I accomplished today!  First off I made up another 6 Canada blocks.  Then received demo for prep work for tomorrow's mini tuffet pincushion class.  It's gonna be CUTE!  Then I caught up on my 2017 TIAS - Day 4.  I still have no idea what this will grow up to be.  OK I'm off to bed!

Gimli Retreat - FRIDAY'S Update

Lovely buffet supper for 29 registered quilters.  OK here's a recap of today's projects for Pat' table toppers or the top two could become a runner and Sylvia's 9 of the 10 Canada blocks so far.  I've stitched 5 and just waiting to sew up on more and then will post again.  I'm doing prep work for my mini tuffet pincushion class tomorrow morning.

Gimli Quilting Retreat

Relaxing with Sylvia and Pat at the Gimli Retreat.  Supper last night at Seagulls and here's what I sewed yesterday.

Feeling Energized and Pained!!!

After a lovely mild winter weather 6.6 km walk with the group for 75 minutes.   BUT also in pain as I developed another sore spot on the ball of my right foot again.   When I got home and checked it out it was a burst blister this time - dang these are happening even with the new blister preventive hiking socks and with two different footgear!!!  Definitely will wash them and take them back to find out if they honour their customer service.   I've the short ankle ones and have not had these problems even in my old worn out runners and I walked a lot more in summer.

DOUBLE DANG - I hate blisters and pain!!!

TIAS - Day 2

Day 2 of 2017 TIAS and no idea of what this could be. This image looks like the Ninga Turtle mask! I see my size 40 Lizbeth thread will make a miniature whatever.

Feeling Relaxed!

I've had a few very cold outside days - nice and comfy inside stitching, watching hockey and curling and enjoying my stitching and tatting!   So much so that I've kept up with my 1 Year in Stitches: 2017 but failed in daily uploads on my personal pages - I'm doing weekly uploads in detail in my pages but summarizing on the actual stitching site.  ðŸ˜Š

Here is Week 2 of the 'Annual Panel':  Chrysanthemum  (Daisy) - Chrysanthemum morifolium, Diosma - Coleonema pulchrum, Easter Daisy  (Michaelmas) -Aster amellus, Forget-me-Not - Myosotis sylvatica, Foxglove - Digitalis pururea, Gardenia 'Florida' - Gardenia augusta, and Wattle (Cootamundra) - Acacia baileyana.

And on the 'Rose Table Topper' worked on the shaded fillins in long and short stitch and the leaf outline in stem stitch.
